Dozens of D/FW workers arrested
11/20/2002
From Staff and Wire Reports
Sixty workers at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport were arrested Wednesday for allegedly using invalid Social Security numbers to gain access to secure areas of the airport.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office in Dallas, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Immigration and Naturalization Service agents arrested the airport employees.
Each individual was charged with one count of misuse of a Social Security number, a felony.
The workers arrested included baggage handlers, ramp and cargo agents, food service and maintenance workers. Most arrests were at the workers' homes.
Thirty other people at the homes were taken into custody on immigration-related charges, authorities said.
The arrests are the latest in a number of airport-related security sweeps across the country to improve security against terrorism. Similar arrests took place at major airports in the New York City area Tuesday.
In a statement, D/FW Airport said it has "agressively" taken part in a probe that reviewed some 40,000 records.
"The violations that D/FW and federal agencies found were based on immigration and documentation violations, and not alleged breaches of homeland security," airport spokesman Ken Capps said.
Mr. Capps also noted that the arrests had no impact on D/FW flight operations.
The Dallas Web Staff and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

then they could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000.00 fine for using fake Social Security cards or deportation. Deportation alone wouldn't be enough, they need to at least pay the fine. The fine should be used to pay the legitimate holders of the Social Security Numbers some kind of reimbursement.

So they arrest 130 in Boston and 60 or 70 here in Dallas. Tonight a thousand of so will sneak across the border - mathmatically it is a losing game. But I agree with you that it is a start.

Go get 'em, John Ashcroft!

Often illegals have several fake Identifications --some to collect welfare with, some to have jobs with. I know one who they caught here shoplifting and found four separate Identifications in use ---she was collecting welfare with each and from 3 different states. She wasn't actually illegal anymore since she had been amnestied in the 80's but she jumped bail and is back in Mexico now. She had been caught committing Medicaid fraud before she was amnestied.

The illegals have been issued a court date for which they will never show. I know - I have read the other stories. Sad ain't it?

Thanks for the ping. None of these leeches should be allowed to bail out pending trial. They should be deported quickly if they're illegals.... and banned from the U.S. for life. Their assets should also be seized.

"They were arrested at DFW also. How stupid can AA get???"
IMHO....Pretty Darn Stupid. WE need a clean sweep through LAX. In fact the whole state of California for that matter.
Thanks for the PING!

Their assets should also be seized. I agree. I bet some of them have some pretty nice things like cars, trucks, boats, etc.

"It can be a little difficult to spot phony documents. You can buy any kind of American Identification you want in any Mexican border town. You can buy any kind of Mexican Identification you want also ---which Guatemalans and others do."
You can also get these documents just about anywhere on the streets of Downtown Los Angeles too.

She's just one of many in a number of humble migrants here to do an honest days work while milking the system.

"When they say they intend to give amnesty to those illegal who committed no other crime, it's very very important that they get rid of all the felony criminals who are using stolen and falsified documents. It shouldn't be too difficult with computers to clean up the Social Security number databases and go after all those duplicate numbers in use."
DITTO.

When do we get the data that will show us, the people, how dysfunctional and dangerous the McNamara-style DOD purchases often are?

"Now the great part - what are they going to do with these people. They have done more than just miuse a SS card. It would seem to me they have violated quite a few laws."
They'll (ILLEGAL ALIENS) will probably run & cry to the ACLU and whine to them on how their "civil Rights" were violated. That's their usual MO.

It's slow, but it's progress It will be progress when they are deported.
To: Brownie74
"We would go to jail for doing something like this but they will probably get rewarded with amnesty"
Their reward should be a one way ticket back across the border only to never return for violating US laws.

Why on earth hasn't this been done before now? My guess is that LEOs are instructed not to profile. So even if an airport employee can't speak English and looks like an Illegal they are not allowed to make the LOGIGAL assumption that they probably are an Illegal Alien.
Only after many, many months do they come around to matching SS#s and find out the real story. This doesn't exactly instill much confidence that our government is serious about removing security threats in critical areas like air travel does it?

But FITZ, we are told that the illegal aliens are honest people who are only here to work.... >sarcasm<

It was sort of a rhetorical question, yes.
