in an interview with ABC News Chief Moose revealed himself to be a very intelligent, self aware individual. A man who is up to the task and a fine public servant.
He is also a member of the Air National Guard.
I raise a toast to the Mooster.

I didn't catch the interview, but I saw him hold a press conference once after the snipers had been caught. His pronunciation was much better than during the height of the crisis, when he sounded like an uneducated man. I can't help but wonder if the stress of the situation didn't affect his speech?

I don't like public speaking myself.
To: Prodigal Son
I enjoy it, but I haven't had the opportunity to speak in public for a long time.

Why toast him? He's largely responsible for the bigoted policy of "looking for white men in a white vehicle" that allowed the shooters to escape the police more than once during their spree.

Do you not get self conscious in front of a large group of people? I don't mind speaking informally to a large group of people- like a BS session with many of your friends- but once the situation changes to mounting a podium as the crowd falls silent... Man.
My one and only experience with stage acting came as part of a school play when I was in 5th Grade. Christmas play. The teachers made me memorize the poem Little Lord Fauntleroy and I was to recite that on stage. I have basically blocked that memory out of my mind. I apparantly got through it well enough, but it was very traumatic for me. I honestly have no memory of it except waiting on stage for the curtain to come up. Maybe my aversion to public speaking stems from this incident- that's a good guess. I'm certainly not afraid of voicing my opinion in public. It only bothers me when it is some sort of formalized setting.
Some people really seem to come into their own once they mount up behind a podium. I've always envied those people.

No. This is a bit disingenuous. The blame for that should fall where it belongs- on the FBI. They are the profilers of record. Moose would've been a little player as far as that goes. Before that incident ever took place (the Sniper shootings), if you had described the situation as a hypothetical problem I could've told you the FBI would've given the profile as a White Male. This is not the doings of Chief Moose.
To: Prodigal Son
It can be a daunting experience speaking to a large group of people. The best insurance against nervousness is to be well prepared. It doesn't hurt to be a bit of a ham, either.
To: Arthur McGowan
I believe Moose was just the front man-a very odd choice indeed.
