A US team confirmed this effect earlier this year. During the three days of clear skies in September the difference between the average day-time maximum temperature and night-time minimum across the US was more than one degree greater than when contrails were present. This is so much more junk science hooey.
You can't apply a variance of one degree in a one-time instance and come to any conclusion - unless, of course, you are a publicity hound.

Thanks for the post, interesting. I wouldn't of thought that 3 days makes a whole lot of difference.

This story was around not long after 11 Sept. It didn't pass the smell test then. It doesn't pass the smell test now. It has the odor of a conclusion in search of collaborating theory and corroborating evidence. None of which are really present.
The allies flew thousands of bombers over Europe in the last 3 years of war. B-17's, B-24's, Lancaster and Wellington bombers leave contrails. Was the weather different downwind from these air operations? Was the worlds climate different from the 30's to the late 40's ?
What about cows? Weren't cows responsible for greenhouse emissions a few years before the WTC attacks? What these "Scientists" are sniffing, isn't contrails.

The week of Sept. 10th, 2001 had some of the nicest, clearest weather across most of the nation for some time. Sept. 11th especially was a day so bright and clear you wanted to bottle it, even at breakfast time.
The lack of airplanes had nothing to do with it.
