AMERICAN LIFE LEAGUE NEWSROOM

Nancy Pelosi is not a 'conservative Catholic'; anti-life stance creates scandal within Church

"In recent media appearances, new House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has been described as a conservative Catholic," said American Life League president Judie Brown. "This disturbs me. I want her bishop to know that her public opposition to Catholic teachings is creating scandal among faithful members of the Church. It is my prayer that he will respond accordingly."

Mrs. Brown has written Archbishop William Levada of San Francisco that Rep. Pelosi (D-Calif.) is one of "many members of Congress who claim Catholicism as their creed while doing everything they can to undermine basic teachings of the Church and the Biblical principles upon which those teachings are based. And people listen to them."

Rep. Pelosi has voted repeatedly in favor of pro-abortion legislation, and has reportedly hosted representatives of the strident pro-abortion organization "Catholics for a Free Choice" in her congressional offices. "There is danger that this behavior will lead others to sin," said Mrs. Brown. "In Catholic Church terms, this is scandal."

According to Section 2284 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, "Scandal is an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil. The person who gives scandal becomes his neighbor's tempter. He damages virtue and integrity; he may even draw his brother into spiritual death. Scandal is a grave offense if by deed or omission another is deliberately led into a grave offense."

"The Catholic hierarchy must be made aware that the public behavior of pro-abortion political figures such as Nancy Pelosi, who claim solidarity with the Catholic faith, creates an extremely dangerous situation for other Catholics," said Mrs. Brown. "It is our hope that Archbishop Levada -- and other shepherds of the Church -- will call these politicians to task for their belligerent and insistent promotion of abortion, an act which, according to Church teaching, is a grievous sin. Souls are at stake. We pray for Rep. Pelosi, that she may repent of her continued advocacy of child killing."

AS SEEN FROM THE EYES OF A CHILD ---

MIDI - WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE

Mommy please explain to me…what does abortion mean
That’s a word my teacher used…last week in school
She said that she paid for one…and that it’s not really cruel
What have some people done...do they know what they've done

Mommy please explain to me…why is a fetus bad
She said it’s a parasite…that had to die
Is it just a worthless thing…do you think that it can cry
What have some people done...do they know what they've done

Mommy please explain me…what does “it’s my choice” mean
Does it mean that life and death…was in her hands
Did she take what wasn’t hers…did she scoff at God’s commands
What have some people done...do they know what they've done

Mommy please explain to me…what's “partial birth” about
Does it mean a baby died...in an awful way
Why do people do such things…it will not grow up to play
What have some people done...do they know what they've done

Mommy please explain to me…are doctors sometimes wrong
Isn’t life the thing that they…swore to protect
If they do an awful deed…something sacred they reject
What have some people done...do they know what they've done

It's a shame- but it went off the tracks in the 1960's, and I don't know if it can ever really recover.

Indeed it did. It was infiltrated by Communists. A FReeper named Polycarp can refer you to the documented facts of these events. Communists hate the Catholic Church as much or more than they hate America. They have infiltrated both and seek to destroy us from within.

After many years of disillusionment, many other Conservatives and I have returned to the Church to fight a battle against this evil.

We need your prayers.

Posted by freeper, Ford Fairlane, a few years back during an abortion discussion.

A PRAYER OF MARY

You didn't make it, Unborn Child, they wouldn't let you be.
To your bud of life they took a knife … it's the New Morality.

They didn't mean to hurt you, Love, you have to understand.
Forgive them what they did to you, their life was so well-planned.

They couldn't take you with them up the ladder of success,
Money, it meant more to them than a child from heaven-blessed.

Tell me, little Unborn Child, what did Creator say?
Did He wrap you in his love and wipe your tears away?

You hover on the edge of time. I see your faceless form.
You laugh whenever children play, Oh God, for you I mourn!

He sent His only precious Son to teach us all The Way.
Still, we kill the unborn ones, it happens every day!

You didn't make it, Unborn Child. They wouldn't let you be.
They just expunged a blob of cells…. It's the New Morality.

Excellent. I've never shut up at church, always voted for the pro-life candidate and told everyone why. A bunch of us have "I'm pro-life and I vote" bumper stickers on our cars.

Pelosi needs to be drummed out of the church, if not by the bishop, then by the parishioners. She gives Catholics a bad name--as do the Kennedys, and other political figures who claim they are Catholic and vote for abortions.

I agree about the infiltration of the Church by Marxists. That whole movement dismayed a bunch of us Catholics, for those here on the forum who don't know.

The primary reason that I am no longer a practicing Catholic is the proliferation of people like this within the Church- Leftist, pro-abortion, pro-criminal and illegal immigrants, pro-homosexual pederast Priests, and anti-American.

You left the Catholic Church because other Catholics are sinners?

I've got a feeling you're not going to find any Church to your liking.

Or any wife or kids, either.

Maybe we should just canonize you a saint and get it over with.

I know you are doing all you can Barnacle. I don't mean to sound like I'm talking to you, but if Catholics are truly serious about ending the scourge of abortion, the place to laser-focus your outreach, seems to me, is other Roman Catholics.

If Catholics could just tell the democrats "Either choose us or the feminists -- but you can't have BOTH", they would go out of business, and the Repubs could begin to steer away from Roe.

We can't get the blacks on our side -- they are lost, and the Jews are too small to make a difference.

RCC's could politically bankrupt the demos if they would unify behind the Pro-Life movement.

All I can say is that the Catholics I know are the Pro-Life movement. You and we are on the same side. We are united in that cause regardless of denominations.

Somebody should tell her that putting her make up on with a caulking gun, isn't very convincing...

Thank you for your letter.

I am baffled by Catholics like Pelosi who support abortion and homosexuality. Both of these have been clearly and logicly and broadly condemned by the Church leadership, including most of the US bishops.

My sister is one of these, or at least she used to be. I think she may have rethought her position, though I've not talked to her about it in many years. (Amazing what becoming a mom can do...) Unlike Pelosi, though, my sister would never have thought to call herself a "conservative Catholic"... she was unabashedly liberal.

It is important to recognize that most Catholics are not in agreement with Pelosi. The Right-To-Life movement is replete with solid Catholic supporters and workers, and in fact in my area Catholics form the base of the movement. One of my church friends spends most of her free time working against abortion, and has dozens of folks in church working with her. Hypocrites like Pelosi debase the fine work these people do.

This public figure Pelosi-type "Catholic" must be strongly condemned by the Church for exactly the reasons you state in your letter.

By the way, you have my permission to post my private reply- although the language is intemperate, the feelings are genuine. I despise preachy people like you- who bury your head in the sand and pretend that "everything is OK" while your Church collapses around your ears. The war is over, the Communists have won- and you see fit to make fun of me because I won't play along with the charade that is the Catholic Church now.

"It is important to recognize that most Catholics are not in agreement with Pelosi."

I'm sorry, but my experience is quite the opposite. Most Catholics, especially in the big cities, are pro-abortion , and are not especially concerned about even such a horrendous crime as the abuse of boys by homosexual Priests.

The Catholic Church in America is just a wh (And my family has been Roman Catholic since Saint Patrick!)olly-owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party, and I have no use for it. (And my family has been Roman Catholic since Saint Patrick!)

I beleive that the commies have been after our church since at least the 1850s through what Leo XIII called nihilism.

There is a good thread earlier about how PC can replace earlier so called ethics.

And did you hear that it was a Communist organization that was the main sponsor of the Peace March recently. They did it through a sub-titled agency.

>>All I can say is that the Catholics I know are the Pro-Life movement<<

But in places where Catholics are prevalent, they are the backbone of the pro-abortion vote-Massachusetts, NY, NJ, Maryland, for example.

The most successful, and fanatical, pro-abortion politicians are Roman Catholics-Kennedy, Kerry, Cuomo, Pelosi, just to name a few.

And, as if that wasn't bad enough, Catholics re overrepresented demographically among women having abortions.

If the Church stood up for life and was successful among its own, we would be well along the road to fixing it.
