SUGGESTION to Gov. Gray Davis on the $21 billion shortfall predicted for next year's budget: Ask for a recount. Of the Nov. 5 election. You never know. If only 200,000 votes change sides, Bill Simon will be the one up to his neck in budget quicksand.

Defunding nonprofits (like the 7 million they gave to the SF gay/lesbian/transgender center) would be a start.
To: I_Love_My_Husband
That's a good start. How about a salary cut for all elected officials? Cut out all uneccessary perks. No more services for illegals. Gray Davis doesn't care about this budget disaster. Someone should make him care...

Next Davis will be talking about the strawberries!

This is the silver lining in the California wipeout of the GOP and Bill Simon this year...
The worst state budget melt-down in American History will have nary a GOP fingerprint on it.

Victory ping.

Isn't amazing that the Bee and now the Mercury after the election are bringing up the budget problem.
Of course they are not blaming the problem on those who caused it. Davis and his tax and spend rats in control of Kali's legislature.

Stop all state payments of any type to illegal aliens.
Stop paying $100,000 to $200,000 for treatment of aids patients in the final two years of their self inflicted disease.
Stop any payment to every non profit standing around the capital with their bags held up for more of our tax $'s.
Fire the new 50,000 so called needed state employees hired by Davis this past 2 years.
Fire 2/3 rds of the state employees and 90% of their so called managers.
Then lower our state income taxes and corporate taxes to stimulate the economy.

I agree with #8. Reading some of the articles in the local papers you would think the Kalifornia budget deficit just came out of the blue. No mention of the total responsability of the DemocaRATic in this. Next thing you know it will be poor ole Red Davis trying to balance a budget that he inherited. Parley

That seems to be these fishwraps goal is to make the budget problem appear to be a really new problem. It ain't new. It was started 3 years ago by the perverts who control the Kali Legislature.
Also, omitted in most of these articles is the fact that we had a surplus of 12 to 14 billion before these deficits hit. So the problem is bigger that they admit to, and there is no surplus to help defray their drugged out spending habits.

Let's hope the CalPERS data helps to inform us as to what BIG money has done to simple-minded bureaucrats. There is no end to the shenanigans that has been going on the last few years in California.

We will probably find out that the Davis and Sacramento Rats have Enronized and Arthur Andersenized the funds and safety of CalPers. Of course it may take an investigation by the FBI and John Ashcroft's people to get the truth and reality out into the light re CalPers.
I want to know how much of
Davis's recent Banana Republic used electricity bonds were bought by CalPers.
To: Grampa Dave
I'd love to see the FBI files on the Rats in Sacramento.
RICO ... Oh PLeeeeze Mr Ashcroft .. This is just another facet of the War on Domestic Terrorism, after all. ;-)
To: NormsRevenge
How much would they save by charging ILLEGAL aliens non-resident tuition fees at state universities?
That Ca ALLOWS them to attend at all is bordering on insane.
To give them resident status for tuition purposes is criminal.

The sweeter the manure, the sweeter the strawberries :-)

Regarding your post to me: I don't know if denying Aids patients treatment would fly. We do need to unload all those uneccessary government employees, and get our economy on track. Otherwise the only jobs available will be government jobs :(
To: NormsRevenge
Like I said after the election. Simon may be thanking his lucky stars he didn't win. Let the Dimwits in Sacramento try and wiggle out of this mess. For decades the GOP has had to go in and straighten out the messes caused by the Dimwits spending our hard earned money like drunken sailors and then when the GOP has to go in and fix it the Dimwits try and say it is all the GOP's fault. After four more years of Red Davis et al, the voters of CA will have had a belly full of left wingers to last them a lifetime.

I California, we're skrewed growth-wise. When so many people work for the government, yaknow you're in deep trouble. The govt sector is still the fastest growing.. That is plain nuts.
Nationally, how many million are federal state and local/municipal employees now, and what has been the growth rate the last 20 years?
I've always thought there was no way for Simon to get rid of Simon's deficit...so it is a mixed blessing.
