LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actor Paul Reubens was charged Friday with one misdemeanor count of possessing material depicting children engaged in sexual conduct, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.

Reubens' attorney, Blair Berk, said the charge, which stems from artwork seized from Reubens' Hollywood Hills home last year, "is simply untrue and without merit."

He said Reubens is being charged with "possession of material depicting children under the ages of 18..."

I used to work for the LA City Attorney's office, and it was extremely political.

I'm not defending Pee Wee here, but the idea that these charges were filed in order to get some publicity are not out of the question at all.

Paul's sister lives here in Nashville. I've met her a couple of times and done some contract work for her (not by choice, mind you). Needless to say, some of us are on a first name basis with her. Her first name being 'Butch'. The whole family is screwed up as far as I can tell.

I didn't hear about that one. From where did you derive that information?

I'd heard about an incident involving Jeffrey Jones and Paul Reubens several months ago here on FR, and I assumed that this story was a continuation of the same incident.
