WHY is this not a hate crime, again????
To: military cop
Because Kansas does not have a thought crime bill on the books. Nor do we want one, murder is murder.

You're both right. It is a good thing that Kansas doesn't have a hate crime law, but on the other hand this crime was extremely hateful and very racially charged yet received virtually no coverage by the major media.
Remember the truly relentless drumbeat about the James Byrd case, or the Matthew Shepard case? Contrast and compare to the virtual shutout of coverage of the Jesse Dirkhising case or this case.
It is easy to come to the conclusion that the "powers that be" have an agenda, and that agenda is what prevails above all else when deciding what stories get covered and what stories get spiked.
To: military cop
because poor, oppressed black males cannot hate. Only oppressive, rich, white males can.

Holy smokes! I can't keep up with all of the consecutive time tagged on to the death sentence. Maybe he should be cryogenically frozen to serve the prison time after he is put to death.
Of course, the judge was obligated to tell them they could earn a 15% reduction for good behavior.

In order for a hate crime to occur, two important items have had to happen. the perpetrators must be white. the victims must be of some other ethnicity. Or a homo.

Of course, the judge was obligated to tell them they could earn a 15% reduction for good behavior. Yeah. A 15% reduction in voltage.
