In his first interviews since conceding the presidency to George W. Bush almost two years ago, former vice president Al Gore calls the outcome of the 2000 election "a crushing disappointment" and criticizes the 5-4 Supreme Court decision that put Bush in the White House as "completely inconsistent" with the court's conservative philosophy.
"I believe that if everyone in Florida who tried to vote had had his or her vote counted properly, that I would have won," Gore said in an interview with Washington Post Magazine staff writer Liza Mundy for an article to be published Sunday. "I strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court decision and the way in which they interpreted and applied the law. But I respect the rule of law, so it is what it is."
Gore told ABC's Barbara Walters, in an interview to air tonight on ABC's "20/20," that he "absolutely" believed he would become president when the Florida Supreme Court ordered a recount of all disputed ballots in the state, making the result all the more emotionally difficult to accept. His wife, Tipper, said in the Post interview, "I still believe we won."

Gore is scum.
Notice how he is moving to the left on every issue -- Iraq, tax cuts, and now socialized health care. It may enhance his chances at getting the nomination, but it reveals the weakness of his overall candidacy for the general election.
I was never a Gore hater prior to this article. Now I see that his self-absorbed obsession reveals nothing but contempt for his own country.

Yes, they said "count 'em", but nobody ever released the COUNT. I realize they can never be part of the certified total, but I want the damned numbers anyway. I don't think anyone ever actually counted them because the Supreme Court ruling made the point mute. The only point now would be to shut up the left wingnuts, but I actually like the fact that they waste their energy and look stupid talking about it still, as if anyone cares.

This is the image accompanying MSNBC.com's version of this story. I'm surprised they went with such a creepy photo. Then again, it's hard to find many NON-creepy photos of Al.
To: Howlin
Many of us believe that they were counted twice.

LOL, between "Law and Order SVU" and "Murder in Greenwich" tonight, nobody will be watching, anyway. I'm trying to decide whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, but since The Goron's feelings will be hurt when nobody watches, I guess it's a good thing!!! LOLOLOL!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...poor babies. Just wike widdle billy and hilly, al and tippy always need to blame sumbody else. Ahhh..boooooooo whoooooooooo...where is that Dem emblem of the baby crying when ya need it? LOL
Poor Al--he must, he must, COUNTERACT the developments of last weeks election! It told the nation that President Bush is, well, A WINNER!
This will take al baby's favorite screed away from the upcoming election---that President Bush was selected, not elected.....can't have that! Why hitlery has been working on it for months....and now those dang elections have gone and proved the entire NATION likes our President.
Widdle al has his work cut out for him....sore losermen never die, they just continue to lose.

Al Gore - Bitter Old Bafoon.
To: Mo1
It was a 7 to 2 decision, or what we attorneys call "controlling legal authority".....

I love it. Keep talking about 2000 for the rest of your life, Gore. You're the only voter who cares.
To: Howlin
THEY WERE, YOU ASS!!!!!Not True: The demorats blocked the counting of the absentee votes of our men and women serving this country overseas.
Gore is a sorry losing Bastard, always has been and always will be.
To: Pokey78
Gore reminds me of Cpt. Queeg and the strawberries..

He respects the rule of law??????????? Then why didn't he approach Clinton and ask about the Monica Lewinsky thing? How come he didn't believe Juanita Broderick? How come, how come how come? This man is dellusional and so is his wife. Neither one of them has any shame. I can't believe he is still out there crying for God's sakes about the election.
HE LOST THE ELECTION HIMSELF. Breathing heavy each time he opened his mouth. What in thee heck was that all about anyway?
Then jumping off the stool and striding over to George W. Bush like Gore was some intimidating figure or something. Well, that didn't work as we all know. Bush looked at Gore and showed him up for what he was. Foolish!
I guess from now until the election in 2004 we will be exposed to this silly man and his wife too. I would think they would respect themselves more and have a little shred of dignity to realize how stupid they are looking and sounding.
Just can't imagine how they can continue on making fools of themselves in front of the country and the world. It just proves more and more he was not the man for the job. He is just not a strong leader..he lost and rightly so!
I would hope this man and his wife would just stay out of the spotlight and live his life with some character and dignity but...am afraid he will not do that. Of course, the media LOVES it. They too know he is making a giant fool of himself but what do they care about Gore? All the media cares about are their ratings and they will get high ratings from these kinds of "side shows."
My number won't be in that rating as I am not watching. Will just wait to read what others have to say about it and it should be more than interesting reading all the comments.

I stand corrected. How I could have forgotten those military votes is beyond me.

I believe it was dead who said she had the "emotional stability of a gambling chihuahua". I can't top that description.
Hey Ivan, thanks for remembering! That description was buried in this long epic:
The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of Politics
It was a self-evaluation by the Tipster herself.

I note Gore left out the fact that Florida would have been a moot issue, if his own state of Tennessee had voted for him instead of for President Bush.
