PARIS (Reuters) - Police have arrested the head of a mosque on the western outskirts of Paris and two associates suspected of involvement in a terrorist conspiracy, a judicial source says.
Police arrested the men on Wednesday, acting on an intelligence service tip-off that the imam of Puteaux, who is of Moroccan origin, and two close colleagues, incited militants to carry out terror strikes, the source said.
Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said last week that a separate group of men arrested in Marseilles and Lyon in connection with April's synagogue bombing in Tunisia had links to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
French police are on alert after recent intelligence reports cited heightened activity among radical Islamic groups in Europe.

I am just shocked. Islam means peace, we all know that. The police must have made a mistake.

I bet they were no real ones, but rather Mossad agents. /sarcasm off

French judge warns of possible terrorist attacks in Europe
French investigating judge has warned of possible attacks in Europe by Osama bin Laden's terrorist network. The judge says al Qaeda networks are already active in Europe, which pose a realistic threat. The networks consist of large numbers of people who continually change their hiding places. The judge says European citizens should be aware of the danger.
In the United States, the CIA has also issued a warning about possible new attacks. The intelligence agency says that all signals indicate that the situation is just as dangerous as in the period prior to September the 11th 2001.
Earlier this week, a new voice recording of Osama bin Laden was released. On the tape, the terrorist leader expressed his admiration for a number of recent terrorist attacks.
