Any idea how many Anzac-class frigates and P-3's New Zealand has? Wondering what's left to defend the homeland?

Regards to Wellington. This is more help than we are getting from others closer to the Persian Gulf!

New Zealand.....played down any link to possible U.S.-led action against Iraq.

LOL! Sounds like my Canadian relatives' response when I told them what a great job
we'd heard about their stone-cold snipers (Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry)
doing more than their part in Afghanistan!
My Canadian uncle just said "sounds like those guys are having a bit of fun over there".

Welcome aboard! And I'm sure our Canadian friends on the HMCS Vancouver and Halifax
will have the new kids in fighting-'n-fussin' shape right away.

"I must stress that this deployment is in no way linked to any ongoing controlled sanctions
against Iraq or of any military action unauthorized which might occur against
Iraq," Clark said.

One nosy political question from the USA:
does the timing of this putting a NZ ship into action have anything to do with
the electoral tsunami here in the favor of Pres. Bush?

Just curious, seeing how the French seemed to be come much more amenable to US suggestions
regarding Iraq...and even got a Yes vote from Syria...less than a week after the election.

Political pundits said the election outcome would have international
ramification.
I just find it hard to believe that it's happened this quickly (apparently in some cases).
And MAYBE pushed the NZ guvmint into action...

Thank you NZ. Now if we could just get the French to not participate, we won't have to shore up that part of the effort.
