BULLETIN-17 Dead, 150 Missing in Tennessee Tornados

BULLETIN

At least 17 are reported dead, 60 injured and 150 missing in Morgan County after a tornado touched down Sunday night, according to Cecil Whatley, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency Director of Natural Hazards.

Emergency personnel are setting up command and evacuation centers in the Mossy Grove and Joyner communities as well as Wartburg and Petros.

With two seasonss left to the show I hoped they would hang on to his character longer. I always knew Ralphie would die, but it did surprise me last night.

The Sopranos is known to do the occasional cameo by characters that have died. Jackie was making appearances well into the second season. Big Pussy became a talking fish. Gloria was in an episode two weeks ago, after we found she had killed herself. Ralphie may be in a flashack.

That said, I think Paulie dies next. Tony will eventually find out aout his divided loyalties to Johnny Sack, and I think there will be a shooting war before too long with his crew.

It's been a long time since Tony got his own hands bloody. They had almost made Tony look domesticated. So much for that.

I worry that Adrianna is a short timer. About the only thing she could do is tell Carmella what is happening and have Carmella give her all of the money she stole from Tony, and then run.

That number of missing may not be accurate, but the death toll keeps rising. There is so much rubble that they are worried many more are still burried in it - some perhaps even trapped in their basements or safe areas. I pray the rescue workers are led quickly to those who still need help.

There has been some mention that it is an isolated communtiy and word was slow to get out.

Driving to work this morning, I heard on the news that Seneca County in NW Ohio got hit. I immeadiately called one of my closest friends up there, to make sure he and his family were all right. He and they are, and he saw the funnel clouds drop down before they hit the South end of Tiffin.

Osama must be in charge of the weather now. This is terrible. I feel for these people. But, that's why I live in the Middle Rio Grande Valley in NM. No tornados, hurricanes, forest fires, floods (at my level), disabling blizzards, etc. Could have an earthquake, I guess--but not likely to do much damage.

Mossy Cove is quite isolated, really with just one road in and out. Morgan County is a rugged area with few through roads and very poor cell phone coverage due to the sparse population and the rugged terrain. As of daybreak, 156 people were listed as missing in Morgan County. Many of the people were assumed to be with friends,relatives, but as of this time, there are still quite a few missing (I don't have a radio, but I was told around 50 are still missing).

I appreciate your comments scattered here amongst HBO's latest attempt to find society's lowest common denominator. This is a big deal here in Tennessee, and I appreciate you for seeing that.

Yep...I heard that too here on FNC. I thought I heard some comment that it was bumped up to an F5. Almost unheard of in the Ohio area.

Where is this area in relation to Nashville? I know people in the hill country to the SE of Nashville.

It is both surreal and shameful to see comments on yesterday's human tragedies interspersed with comments about some stupid television schtik here on this forum.

Being originally from Tennessee myself, with many friends and family still there, you folks up there have my sincerest sympathy.

I may be mistaken, but I think a CNN reporter just snickered while interviewing 3 men who were in the Pentecostal Church in Mossy Grove during the tornado. The older gentleman kept repeating "We were praising the LORD and praying, and he saved us". Did anyone else hear this?

Where is this area in relation to Nashville?

This particular area is over 100 miles from Nashville, about 40 miles NW of Knoxville in East Tennessee. Still, areas north and east of Nashville were hit twice in the last two days with some fatalities there as well. I hope your folks are safe. Most are, thank God.

Ohio was slapped around too with this storm front. Have kids outside of Columbus...they are all OK

Like an idiot, I was walking in north Columbus, OH when the storm hit. The rain was driving sideways. My back was soaked through and my front completely dry. I ducked into a McDonalds when the hail hit for several minutes.

I was oblivious to the extreme weather just north of Columbus. The northern surrounding counties were all under Tornado Warnings. I was very lucky that the extreme weather angled just a few miles north of me.
