WANTED: How to Promote www.FreeRepublic.com (Your Concise Commercials Please)

Posted on 11/09/2002 11:10:25 AM PST by MTCJK

Since i discovered Free Republic almost 5 years ago, it has become quite apparent that FR has become one of the most fast-moving and practical sources for conservative news.

Five years ago, I was an angry American (Clinton scandals). Today, I am a very informed conservative activist with constant information at my fingertips (thanks to FR)

I believe that if we could each tell five conservative friends about FR in the next two years, we could educate them to the point of activism.

What i would be interested to hear from my FR friends is their personal experiences about sharing FR with friends and ideas for promoting FR to listening, but unmotivated conservatives we know. Thanks for your help!

My mom got me onto FR. We now both post regularly. We're both also in the process of getting my dad interested. ;)

Without a doubt, FreeRepublic is the best news source on the web.

I discovered FR by watching that Pro-War on Iraq rally where one of the leaders of the FR organization spoke. He was very pro-Israel. So I decided to see what FR was all about. And Here I am.

Every registered Freeper should have a bumper sticker on their car/truck.

I've had them on ours for almost 5 years.

If I see a story I think somebody would be interested in, I'll e-mail them the link to the FR thread and add a little note encouraging them to check out the rest of the site. I've turned two of my friends on to FR this way and they are not even all that conservative.

If CNN can advertise on FOXNews, then FreeRepublic can advertise on Salon.com.

Personally I like the plain ones with just "freerepublic.com", it generates curiosity.

I was a frustrated American. As my nickname may give away [ChadGore] It was Al Gore's delusion of grandure in Florida during this nations longest month (November 8th, 2000 through December 15th, 2000) that got my attention to Free Republic.

I had watched both candidates run a good campaign and went to listen to GWB speak when he was here in the great state of Wisconsin and I really liked what I heard.

The night of the election, I went to bed at around 3 AM with a smile on my face and a dream that soon I would be waking up in the morning to PBS saying . . "Good Morning, President Bush today . . "

But we all woke up in a nightmare. . .

After the first recount was finished, and Bush had won, I remember watching little George S. on ABC trying to tell people that what gore was doing was a GOOD THING and I just about blew a gasket!

After years of clinton slime, here was the guy who spiked the wanita broadrick(sp?) story just in time to get his boy clinton into power and now he's useing ABC to tell ME that what Al Gore is doing is a GOOD THING (tm)martha !?

Rather than just hit the remote control button and go back to something more palatable, I decided to take action follow a link in a email to FR, and there it was.

The whiney baby in the middle of the "official seal of the democrat party", The SORE LOOSERMAN pictures, Registered@AOL, the works ! I couldn't believe that there were so many other people who felt the same as me!

So I got involved then, I saw pictures of people all across the country, big towns and small, demonstrating against Al Gore. Even a crowd outside Al Gore house!

and even went to a rally in Milwaukee WI during the recount (something I was sure was beneath contempt for any respectable conservative) and saw other people with freerepublic.com on their signs. It demonstrated that people REALLY COULD make a differance.

Since then, I have a stronger understanding of the value of life argument that's behind the right to life (thank you Alan Keyes), a deeper comprehention of how the 2nd amendment is linked with the distrobution of power (power to the people), a new apreceation for our founding fathers, the sacrafices they've made and the philosophers and prognosticators that influenced their thinking (John Locke, Federlist papers), a better understand of Atlas Strugged than I could ever dream, and a passion for a smaller government dedicated to the mandate granted to it in the constitution.

Before FR, I would listen to liberals weave stories about new and interesting ways to spend my money, and sat idoly by, in quiet frustration with little to offer to refute them. Now, I engage.

If you'd like to promote FR for free, there IS a way....create a web page, include some text content about conservatism on your page, and link to FR. This tends to put FR higher on the search engine results.

Right now, per Google, there are some 2,590 links to the FR main page. There are about 36,000 links to whitehouse.gov, (I mention this for comparison purposes) and about 2,780 to a certain pro-demoncrap site that won't be named.

So, we really could do a bit better....

Agreed. The web is an "under the mouse" interface and the more links we get under the pointer the better. I've often found putting www.freerepublic.com in your email signature helps to distribute that link.
