Ritter delivers a first-hand account of the effect of the imposed sanctions on the Iraqi people. His impassioned discussion explores the area where justice meets compassion and covers the controversial topic of weapons of mass destruction. Ritter's own experience and insight serve to enlighten the audience on an important and under publicized issue.
Ritter has had a distinguished career in government service. He is a ballistic missile technology expert who worked in military intelligence in the former Soviet Union and the Middle East during a 12-year career in the U.S. armed forces. A former major in the U.S. Marines, Ritter served under General Norman Schwarzkopf with Marine Central Command headquarters in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.
In 1991, Ritter joined the UN weapons inspections team (UNSCOM). He took part in more than 30 inspection missions, 14 as chief.
(excerpted from that page) ...Mon. Nov. 11 "War in Iraq: A View from the inside" Scott Ritter, former cheif(misspelling theirs) weapons inspector for UNSCOM, Marine Intelligence Officer. Will speak to the lies and dangers of an escalation of the war in Iraq.
I wonder if they'll let the Iraqi exiles in to ask questions. Or FReepers.
I suspect I'd agree with Mr. Ritter on the effect of the sanctions, but probably not with his take on the WMDs. From what I've heard, nuke capability could be mere months (weeks?) away, if'n I remember correctly.
Handing out or e-mailing copies of this article is better than any argument with the hard-headed.
Hmmm.
Apparently, the traitorous POS got RIFFED, huh?
Nothing more bitter than a RIFFED officer.
This traitor should be in jail.
Frankly, I find it puzzling, says Elisa D. Harris, who served as director of nonproliferation issues at the National Security Council from 1993 until 2001, and is currently a resident scholar at the University of Maryland. Given what's been reported about the nature and quality of the anthrax material in the Daschle and Leahy letters, that the material itself almost certainly originated in the U.S. biological weapons program, they ought to be able to narrow the investigation to a fairly limited number of facilities. That number is certainly less than 20. So I find it puzzling that the FBI has approached all 40,000 members of the American Society of Microbiologists. I don't understand why they seem to be casting the net so widely.
(*My note : I reckon they wouldn't want the FBI to consider all suspects when the left already has picked out the person they want to frame.)
From the left-wing Federation of American Scientists, of Rosenberg fame:

Who is a member, along with Meryl Nass and Barbara Hatch Rosenberg, also of Hatfill-frame-up fame, of the FAS Subgroup on Investigation of Alleged Use or Release of Biological or Toxin Weapons Agents.
well, at least we know who might be cheering on Ritter at his lecture at the University of Maryland.
