Centenarian Edgar Moore says downing almost 63,000 pints of beer has kept him young.

Mr Moore has drunk two pints a day since he left school at 14.

This means at 100 he's sunk 62,780 pints and spent £87,000 on beer at today's prices.

The retired farm worker told The Sun : "I've enjoyed a couple of pints of mild every single day since I started work, and I think it's kept me young.

"When you tot up the cost it sounds a fortune but it's a small price for all the enjoyment.

"There's nothing like having a natter with the lads and a laugh with the barmaids. I've got a dodgy knee, but I still manage to walk half a mile backwards and forwards to the pub at lunchtime."

Mr Moore was bought his first beer by fellow farmhands in 1916 and didn't miss a session for 61 years at the Mill Road club in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

After moving in 1981 he shifted his allegiance to the Pied Piper two miles away and still rolls up each lunchtime

I gotta say, as a homebrewer, this is INSPIRING! I think I'll be toddling off to the brew shop for some supplies, in honor of this gent!

I am in favor of daily beer drinking myself. I down two or three 12-oz bottles every day. Hopefully I'll still be drinking them 60 years from now when I turn 100.

His contemporaries who drank stout could not be reached for comment.

My absolute fav is Kolsch. Here in Ga it becomes necessary in the summer to fridge even in the basement to do lagers, so this is my cheat. I keg all my beers and so have quite the production going on. (4 kegs) Hoppy browns are quite good, but the old german ales and lagers are a fav. Except for my prize winning chocolate covered cherry stout. Aged 1 year..mmmmmmmm

2. I (me, LibKill) drink beer every day. If you set eyes on me you would underestimate my age by at least ten years. Everyone else does.

Long time homebrewer myself. Going to spend the weekend with a fellow FReeper couple teaching them the craft. They were down a few weeks ago making a batch of Charlie Papazian's Toad Spit Stout, and will be taking them their share.

This man has tapped into an eternal wisdom that not enough people have yet - naturally made alcohol products consumed in moderation (and yes, 2 pints a day is certainly moderate enough) is a gift from God.

Well, at least we know gunner's real age.
I always thought he looked a mite older than twenty-two.

If I start drinking now, it shouldn't take much more than a few hundred years to be completely - uh - old...

Yep. He was one of those "dead white guys" that communists love to cr@p on.

But, he died of old age, and he died happy.
