Systematic problem statewide in Georgia confirmed: When placing vote, and touching the screen for a Republican candidate, the box is incorrectly checked for the Democrat candidate. Another similar situation is occurring when the review screen comes up and previously marked Republican votes are showing as Democrat votes... is happening in lots of different races. Officials fixing problems as they arise when made aware of them... Developing...

The problem with paper ballots is threefold:

1. They're difficult to count quickly
2. When you try to count them quickly, they can be damaged
3. Paper ballots can be manufactured, manipulated, and misused.

That's what they do in Bucks County as well. My husband said that someone in his line was turned away. My guess is that they were improperly registered, if at all. The system works!

My machine appeared to work fine. When I pushed a republican light....it lit right! Maybe it was only happening where people were being told how to vote and then they voted the correct way anyway.

The wired money only has value because it can be backed up with paper money on demand. Any bank that wired money without being able to back it up with real cash would be in enormous trouble very quickly. Same goes with voting - unless there is a paper ballot printed with the results of the voter's input which can back up the computed tally, the machine's 'word' alone is not sufficient.

Don't they have a master list of registered voters for the precint? Everyone voting should appear on the list, then need to sign in as that person on the list.

That would give the number of people voting, and possibly, the party they are registerred with.

There is ZERO reason that these things should not be as reliable, and reciept printing as an ATM machine.

I don't know of any ATM machines with touch screens though there may be some. Haven't used a touch screen in a long time though years ago there were some at work. They worked fine but sometimes they wouldn't register especially if you were quick, in time they got glitcher until we got rid of them. Maybe the technology hasn't improved. Also most governments do not usually get the best equipment.

If, somehow, rules of bookkeeping, accounting, auditing can be part of electronic voting, then fine. Our local system of large ballots with big black marks and lots of white space that are then scanned electronically is great. It's fast and accurate. For a recount, if anyone disputes the count the ballots can be brought out and counted by hand.

I voted touch screen in Washington State; it was our first time; the poor guy couldn't get it to work till someone pointed out you needed to plug in the magnetizer and let it warm up. The screen didn't like it when I didn't vote for those not running against anyone. I hope my vote counted. And then the mag card went back to the top of the pile to be reused and reused. How can they tell my vote from another if everyone used the same card.

I think it unAmerican to go absentee unless I have to, but I might next time. There is something about having to go out and vote to make me feel vested in the process.

Let me go on record as saying "I'm not surprised" The machines were probably manufactured in some sweat shop employing illegals, or in a (nafta) Warez Mexico plant where IQ's are lower than individual finger and toe counts. Anyone here surprised?

I agree. The monitor's calibration was probably off. The one I was on worked fine.

A bigger concern was having the Democrap listed first under each race. Why not randomize that? Or, list them alphebetically?
