I voted this morning. Here in PA there's only 4 races on the ballot and in my district (10th) the R congresscritter is also on the dem ballot (no one bothered to oppose him and with 1000 signatures on a petition he went on the D ballot as well).
I had to help my mother because she can't see well enough. She almost pulled a straight D ticket but I stopped her. I said "that's the Democrat lever, do you want me to pull the republican for you?" and she said "oops, yes."

When I got to my precinct in downtown Brooklyn at 9:15 am I was voter 152. There were 4 machines, 2 of which were for my apartment complex: a group of 7 16-floor buildings rumored to have 100% voter turnout -- almost all Dem. :( . Of the 2 machines for the complex, one was broken. I didn't see one person vote on the other 2 machines for my entire 30 minute wait.I'm confused. If there's 100% turnout (practically impossible in and of itself) in a group of huge apartment complexes that must hold thousands and thousands of people, how could you only be voter #152?
I voted straight Republican, which was a welcome change from election 2000 when the mechanism for voting Republican for Senator was disabled and I had to vote for Lazio on the Conservative line. (This was a typical Dem. dirty trick -- 2 friends from other parts of Brooklyn found their mechanisms disabled as did Don Imus, who voted from Manhattan.)
Well, you do need to keep in mind that the majority of those machines contain parts that are literally over 100 years old and are no longer being manufactured, and there's a perpetual shortage of machines in perfectly-working condition. So there's a good chance they just said "Hell, as long as it lets them vote for Lazio on SOME line, let's just go ahead and use it." But if that ever happens to you again, you should note the machine number and call the NYCBOE to complain and then call all the other various GOP-based fraud hotlines.

LOL @ the "checked my chads."

Here in Central MN, it is the same: heavy turnout for off year elections. I am not sure of the Senate. I pray Coleman wins. Daytona and Mondale would be too much. (Actually, either one alone is too much! LOL)

I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm for saying that they went to vote. But could you please include what state you're in, what turn out was like, and how your precinct or district usually votes? Might give us a better handle on what's up out there, since for some reason there are no early exit polls being leaked this time around.

Thanks, DG.
I was quite surprised it wasn't take.

Well to Free Republic!

Voted straight GOP but in my state it won't matter, the Dims are going to win.

I voted this morning around 10:45am and our precinct is quite small, maybe a couple of thousand. Said already about 300 people had been to vote. There was a wait of about 10 minutes after checkin before a booth was available. Jeb got my vote. I had taken my mother with me to vote and while waiting for her a man in an electric wheelchair TRIED to enter the building which is a church and did not have WHEELCHAIR ACCESS. A poll worker and the mans wife and myself and another lady picked up the chair and man and got him inside the building. I told the pollworker he should write an incident report about this.

Hey Orbit...just voted over in Dallastown, I was the only one there - I guess the precincts are split up small...I talked to two gals (GOP operatives) outside the polling place - they told me about the emergency services bond referendum, which I hadn't known about.
Voted straight Republican as usual. I thought about removing the Platt's vote, I should have I guess. I voted against him in the primary. He says things that really irk me. What else can I expect from a law school graduate that went straight to running for office.

No, I spent a good bit of time looking at my final screen and it indicated just what I voted. It is stored on a card with a chip, that you turn in. I think that's the way that it works.

We just got done voting at our precinct in east Green Bay, Wisconsin. So far, about 140 people have voted, and, because we usually vote over the lunch hour in every election, this is about double what it's been in previous years for that time period.
This county (Brown) is about evenly divided between R's & D's. The city goes D, the burbs go R, and the country is a mixed bag.

Jeb Bush!!!!!!! Voted for yah......and all the Rebublicans

Hey, could you call Talent's office and tell them that Jean Carnahan is running a push-poll up in NW Missouri that asks your RELIGION and is trying to set up Catholics against evangelicals? I got an e-mail from my sister-in-law this morning. She is in the St. Joseph area, north of KC. They also wanted to know her INCOME! (She told them no dice.)
