Chris Matthews with Donohue on MSNBC now
MSNBC | rant

Posted on 11/04/2002 8:41:54 PM PST by Cvengr

Sorry for the rant, but the Matthews-Donohue conversation runs the gamut of calling each other traitors, patriots, Donohue calls himself a conservative, Matthews labels him misinformed; Donohue claims the only reason for war in Iraq is that the dissent in the US has been muted.....

The transcript will be fun to critique.

FReepers might find it entertaining.

I'll have to agree with Chrissy. If Donahue thinks he's conservative, he's highly misinformed.

I'll look for the transcripts.
I can't watch because of that boycott of MSNBC.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but it's comedy....pathetic...evoking pathos...comedy, dark, dark, dark, I don't think a ray of truth or light might even evade the black-hole darkness of it,.....

I ain't about to watch this. But I saw a promo a little while ago about a Matthews/Donohue "debate." Now that made me laugh.

What are they gonna argue about -- who's the bigger left-winger?! Or maybe who has the lower ratings?

The Mrs came out to say that Matthews was pontificating that this is why America likes Casblanca so much. That Rick was anti-war. 'Guess he never watched it to the end.

I'm watching it as a result of your post. But one has to wonder why the two lowest ratings hosts are so chummy.

Chris is a MORON.
I saw him on several talk shows promoting his book a year or so ago.
He was saying that other nations should be afraid of us because we made abortion legal?
What an Idiot!!!

At first, they both seem to be attempting to out inflame one another,....Donohue for a while threatened that Matthews shouldn't criticize him so much.

They're searching for anything to titillate PC sensibilities.

They toned down alot. Typical Demo Socialist style.

The Clintonista style hasn't gone away,...it's just not as publicly acclaimed as it was 2-10 yrs ago.

He's chanting a mantra of 'God, country, health-care'.....methinks he doesn't comprehend the 1st two,...so why would I trust him with the 3rd?.

This is very entertaining in a sick way.

It is like watching two liberal drunks who have each had one too many argue over who more patriotic and who understands the country better. It is so funny...God, Matthews is such an EGOMANIAC, if you disagree with him at all he all but calls you a dumb Sh#t!!

Donahue is a loon, but at least he is standing up to Chris. This debate is fun to watch because you can tell each one really thinks the other one is full of Sh#t!!

Matthews chided Donohue for having a knee-jerk put down America reaction to everything. It was good. Matthews was worth watching.

The thing that struck me was how deeply unhappy both of these guys seemed. This was not your basic, cheerful, lets-talk-about-what-our-guys-can-do-in-the-bright-unlimited-future sort of chat.

I hate to read too much into it, but watching these two well-connected lefties take turns snarling and being morose on the eve of a national election does give one a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Donohue, like one large partition of Democratic America, sincerely believes all American success has been due to their beliefs from the 60s -70s and they just are riding the wave of Americana.

My gut tells me a new generation isn't going to naturally arise in moral anti-war indignation as their relatives are slaughtered by terrorists in the US, but instead the 60/70s style of anti-war Democrat will find out how incredibly isolated their cause will become.

That same style of Democrat is known by Clintonistas by another name,....'loser',...which I suspect they associate Carnahan, Wellstone, and Ron Brown as all being of similar ilk. Powerwise, probably not a healthy category when Clintonistas are around. But even that category of Democrat is fairly translucent and the future Democrats won't buy it.

Does the L stand for liberal or loser? Or both?

I had to shake my head when Donahue, in an attempt to fend off a Matthews charge of being too liberal (weak), said he admires Teddy Roosevelt and that the U.S. should "speak softly and carry a big stick". OK, Phil, I'm sure T.R. is your hero.

If T.R. were in charge right now, Iraq, Iran and possibly North Korea would probably be glowing.
