In perilous times such as these, filled with Breaking News on practically an hourly basis, words of war, debate about the war, an upcoming election, and scandal after scandal foisted upon this country, it is time that we FR "regulars" share helpful hints and recipes to get us through these busy days and nights ahead, logged on to FR continuously, all the while trying to maintain a "real life" -- or, at the very least, trying to maintain the appearance of one!
Please use this thread to share your experiences -- "what worked for you," if you will -- of past elections and breaking news cycles, in order to help our newest forum members understand what is coming their way -- and the preparations they must make in order to survive and still have somewhat of a life (not to mention brain) in tact after November 5th and the days that follow.
Realizing that new blood brings fresh ideas, us "old-timers" are open to any and all suggestions from any current Freepers who may have a better idea!
This IS the thread for
"Food for Breaking News"
and
"Helpful Household Tips to Free Up Time to Freep."

I'm taking Wednesday off from work, to avoid what happened the day after Election 2000--not a wink of sleep and guzzling Diet Dews all day.

I will meet you halfway and we'll dance in the streets!

If we regain the Senate, I'll finally get the emotional release that was snatched from me two years ago.

I don't boogaloo, but I'll learn for THAT celebration.

Any Freeper who casts an eye on one second of ABCCBSNBCCNN or MSNBC or CNBC - should go sit in the corner with the dunce cap on. Rush Limbaugh supposedly will appear on NBC:
Watch Rush On NBC Election Night
November 4, 2002
I mentioned this last week, and now, I have made a decision about it. I've been asked by NBC to appear on their Election Night coverage. I thought about it and I thought about it and I thought about it, and I rolled the dice, tossed the jacks, threw the darts, and eventually decided that I'm going to do it. I'm going to appear on Tuesday night on NBC with Tom Brokaw and Tim Russert. Their coverage is going to be divided into two stages. They're going to be on from 10PM to 11P ET, and as of now I'm going to be on in a five to six minute segment to discuss things in that hour, and then they'll break for local news and The Tonight Show, and come back at 1 AM ET for their west coast coverage, and the end of election returns on the east coast - and I'll appear for a portion of that hour as well.
