New York Democratic gubernatorial candidate Carl McCall picked up an unlikely ally last week, none other than conservative radio megastar Rush Limbaugh, whom the black Democrat publicly thanked on Sunday for staging an impromptu on-air fund-raiser on his behalf.
"I have never met him. Don't know anything about him," McCall told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg. "But he made an appeal last week on his radio program - they told people to send us dollars.
"Well, you should see," McCall continued. "We've been flooded with dollars from all over the country from people who say, 'I heard from Rush Limbaugh and he told me to send money' and they're mailing in dollars."
Despite his likely support for incumbent Gov. George Pataki, the Republican-leaning radio host made the appeal for McCall based on reports that Democratic Party leaders had cut funding to McCall's campaign to pour money into closer races featuring white candidates. Meanwhile DNC strategists continue to rely on monolithic African-American support at the polls.
Reprising Limbaugh's complaint, Malzberg told McCall, "The Democratic Party.... from the time Terry McAuliffe was appointed head of the DNC - that was over a qualified former mayor (Maynard Jackson) who was black.
"In Minnesota you had a chance for Alan Paige, on the Supreme Court of Minnesota, who was interested in being the senatorial candidate replacing Wellstone," continued the WABC host. "He's black. Instead they put in a retread like the former vice president."
"That's interesting," responded McCall. "Look, I can't disagree with you." The gubernatorial hopeful then related the Limbaugh fund-raising anecdote.
"It goes to show you the power of the media, right?" the top Democrat concluded, sounding surprised by the radio megastar's ability to generate cash for his campaign.
Still, despite the extra campaign cash, the latest polls show Pataki with a 20 point lead.

McCall had damn well better keep his African-American opinions to himself or the DNC, Hille, and the real blacks will brand him to be a "house" hand. Where does this uppity brother get off criticising the democrats who have done SO much for his folks. Just look at the list!! There's ...., well, .... OK, there isn't much. But, that is besides the point. Blacks just do what the democrat party tells them to do, because!!

What astonishes me is this guy showed a touch of class, which is sadly lacking in the Clinton Party. (no longer is it the Democratic Party, it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Clinton Inc.) Maybe a future convert to the Republican Party?

So what's the story behind this? Why did Rush ask people to send a dollar to McCall?

I just saw another McCall commercial. His are always "this is me and this is what I stand for" type. I can't recall him being negative in any I've seen. He also is getting his clock cleaned. Not sure what this means other than wrong guy , in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What does he have to gain by bending over to the Leftists?

This "send him a dollar" scheme was meant as a joke.
Just shows that the Rats have no sense of humor.

Rush was pointing out the usual hypocracy of the left. Mostly in the fact that honorary black disgraced ex42 and friends are constantly telling how much they do for the black community but when it comes time to put up, they shut up. McCall is just one example where the Democrats are more racist than Republicans. Another example tha Hannity pointed ut is that the current Republican administration has the first black National Security Advisor and Secretary of State, while the previous administration only paid lip service.

So what's the story behind this? Why did Rush ask people to send a dollar to McCall?McCall was deserted by the DNC when its head, Terry McAuliffe, reneged on financial support he promised. Rush's point of small donations to McCall's campaign was that Republicans' commitment to blacks is based on merit & principle, not the tokenism of the DemocRATS.

I don't remember Rush asking listeners to send McCall money. But, what I do remember is Rush highlighting the absymal record the clinton/McAuliffe DNC has ,when it comes to supporting black candidates. The DNC treats black voters and many black candidates as chattel.

It sounds as if (1)Bill and Hill thought that the simple fact that they show up for this guy, he would automatically win, and (2)they chose him to screw over Andy Cuomo.

Clinton liked lip service :)

Rush headline;
Leave No Democrat Behind: Send McCall Money

A black UPS driver that used to deliver to us always voted demo. He always came in and would hear Rush on the radio, well for about 6 years we worked on him. I would give him information about the left and even gave him Thomas Sowels book " It's Ok to Leave the Plantation." He eventually got promoted to Mgt, and last I heard he was voting Republican. Now we are working on the new driver, a Hispanic. He too, now comes in and tells us that he is trying to get his friends and relatives to vote Republican. I live in Chico Ca. that is about 100 miles north of Sacramento. We will win them over one person at a time and let them spread the truth to their friends and relatives. We keep joking that UPS will take us off their rout lest all their employees start spouting conservative ideas. Or even better the Teamsters will start picketing us for our hatefull talk and intimidation of their union workers.

Voters have a choice between a Democrat in Republican clothing (Patakifeller) and a stumbling Democrat who has as much a chance of winning as I do of scoring Britney Spears and Shakira.

On 10-28-02, during his radio program, Rush suggested that his listeners send McCall a dollar or more and just address it to the McCall campaign, New York, NY. He said we didn't even need the exact address or zip code because it would definately get to him.
I sent McCall a check for $5. for his campaign on that very day and noted on it that I was sending it in response to Rush's suggestion.
What a souvenir THAT cancelled check is gonna be!! LOL
I would have loved to have seen the look on McCall's face when all those dollars started arriving.
FReeper JulieRNR21 just notified us of another little item, of interest, too. She wrote:
"If you have not yet learned, the black owned Tempo News, the weekly newspaper of the black communities of Sarasota and Manatee counties (Florida) has endorsed the following candidates for political offices": Gov/Lt. Gov - Jeb Bush/Frank Brogan
Attorney General - C. Crist
Comm. of Agriculture - C. Bronson
US House 13 - Katherine Harris
State Senators - Bennett (21st), Carlton (23rd)
State Representatives - Peterman (55th), Reagan (67), Clark (69), Detert (70)
The endorsements are on page 3 of the October 31 - November 6 edition (vol 15 - no. 44) of the Tempo News. ~ Peter Rice

The point is that our party has been tagged as being the one that doesn't give a rats ass about ethnic opportunities either employment or political and the Leftists are here today selling out their first NY gubernatorial candidate. Where's all of the pissed-off media?

I have been following this race pretty closely, mostly in the NY Post and on WABC radio. I have never seen or heard anything that made me think that Carl McCall was a mean politician or a scumbag of any kind. In fact, my general impression is that the guy is honest. The Clintons must be laughing their rears off.

I am a conservative. I am voting for Golisano strictly over Pataki's pandering to illegals by offering them free and reduced education programs.
