Snow, if this is a Hero thread, I have at least two(2)...
as I sit here and type, I am looking at two signed photographs...
one is of 'Father Duffy' and the other is of 'Colonel William "Wild Bill" Donovan'...
my Pop-Pop (grandfather) served with them in WWI in the world famous...
Fighting 69th - 42 Rainbow Division
I had to serve with that kind of family history...
my old man was a Marine, but he quit the family when I was 6 months old and so...
between spitting in my old mans eye and chasing John Wayne...
I joined the United States Navy!!!

Hello, Miss Bunny... by some minor miracle my old, slow PC was able to reach your reply without freezing... no guarantee it can do this again, so I may not be able to see any further replies.
Me & Taffy ( my old dog-girl ) are sitting here watching the Sun start to rise over the trees- the mighty Atlantic's just beyond- and wondering "what else to do" in the coming election, besides vote, and keep linking and correlating data here on Free Republic...
Just FYI, FWIW... I hear more anger, locally, than I have ever heard before. How this will impact local and state elections is just a guess, but if I were an incumbent, I'd be really worried.
Taff & I met FReepers dansangel and .45man last week... they are a gracious and enjoyable couple. Very nice folks. I suspect most members here are like that.
I'll be on duty, standing by, and bearing witness- come what may.
Also FYI, I recently penned this:
-Vote... and be D@mned! (vanity, but dead serious)--
-30-

FReepersonaltrainer/weatherman does have some sense of humor. So good morning from Maine.
Cold Winter?
It was autumn, and the Indians on the remote reservation asked their new Chief if the winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was an Indian Chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the old secrets, and when he looked at the sky he couldn't tell what the ---- the weather was going to be. Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he replied to his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect wood to be prepared.
Being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"
"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold indeed," the Meteorologist at the weather service responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more wood in order to be prepared.
One week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Is it going to be a very cold winter?" he asked. "Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter." The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of wood they could find.
Two weeks later he called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"
"Absolutely," the man replied. "It looks like it's going to be one of the coldest winters ever."
"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked. The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy".
