WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline Plc said Thursday US regulators had approved an over-the-counter nicotine lozenge designed to help people quit smoking. (Who wants to QUIT!!)
The Commit Lozenge helps relieve craving and nicotine withdrawal symptoms by providing a temporary alternative source of nicotine, the company said in a statement.
The product also gives smokers a way to determine the appropriate strength of nicotine they need, based on how quickly they need to smoke after waking, the company said.
The lozenges have been shown effective in helping people quit, including smokers who have tried quitting before, the company said.
London-based GlaxoSmithKline said the lozenges will be available in stores by the end of November.
I know!!! My dad smoked for many years. One morning, he got up and decided that he HATED it. Never smoked a day after that! And no aides, either. Cold turkey. But he did great.
However, I have no desire to quit. I am not obese. I do not drink. I eat sensibly and exercise. Every year at my physical, my lungs are clear. And I have been smoking a long time!

so now I don't smoke and I have a new Kimber conceal .45 and somebody else is mad that Marlboro's are $30.00 plus a carton :-}
There is no reason to quit. We roll our own since a year ago this past June. From $44-$50 a carton down to under $8.00 dollars a carton! And we are no longer paying into the state coffers.
The savings for Christmas has been WONDERFUL.

and the more people that quit, the less the redistributor trial lawyer thugs can extract.

Well, Big Pharm wants us to quit buying cigarettes so we can buy THEIR products! Big Pharm is Big Business. They want everyone that smokes to be dependent on THEIR anti-smoking aides....

Well, smoking is a bad habit, as we all know. But its legal! And no one gets out of this world alive.
When the good Lord calls me, it won't matter if I had smoked or not!
