That should stir up a hornets nest. :)

I don't know why I even bothered to write this crap, since I have pretty much given up hope of restoring the Constitution in my lifetime. I've kind of settled into a reactionary posture, if that's the correct terminology.

I'm just sitting back and waiting for the slime ball politicians to really screw things up, and then I'll react accordingly in order to survive to resulting mayhem. :)

Good day folks!

"...I have pretty much given up hope of restoring the Constitution in my lifetime."

Never give up.

While I won't pass judgement on your decision to vote 3rd party in all the races, I would suggest you reconsider this part: Where neither of the above are represented on the ballot, I will simply abstain from casting a vote.

Write yourself in, or someone else, just don't leave it blank. Remember the psychic ballot counters in Floriduh and "voter intent"? Don't let a no-vote turn into a vote for someone you don't want.

I think its pretty much impossible to reverse some trends. Basically once people are used to breaking the populace into factions and feeding from the public trough, they become addicted to such handouts. Trying to revoke them once initiated is like trying to take away heroin from a junky. The same goes for minimum wage and every other feel-good Democratic ploy. IMHO the only real solution is to wait for the inevitable collapse of our entire society as we realize we arent able to fund these emotional feel good programs anymore because we've destroyed the family and all motivation to work. Perhaps something worthwhile can be rebuilt from the shattered remnants of our nation once this collapse occurs.

I don't honestly think there's any other possibility.

There's a hell of a choice...Nancy Johnson, whose claim to fame is that she's the oldest member of Congress, and that big fat load of crap Jim Maloney, who I remember telling one of Mark Nielsen's campaign workers that he looked like he had a stick up his @ss.

I thought you and I had this conversation in 2000, where your advice was to move as soon as possible. Why are we both still here?

I recently travelled to Meadville, Pennsylvania, just outside of Erie, where it became clear to me quite quickly that Connecticut is so NOT THE REAL WORLD that it's not funny.

In Meadville, men argue about Ford trucks vs. Chevy and the gun department at Wal*Mart is bigger than the bottom floor of my house. And the reason that that idiot is going to win for governor is that it's time for a Democrat to get into office, and he just happens to be a Democrat.

There's no question that these are not good times to be a conservative, as the RINO mushheads have clearly taken over the party. Witness the exit of such conservative icons as Phil Graham and Dick Armey, and it doesn't bode well for us.

Just hang in there and laugh, though, because there's not much else to do.

The good news is that we OWN the West...we should all move to Nevada or Arizona.

I am about to embark on a new manufacturing venture. I know that I can get so many concessions and gifts and tax abatements and on and on to do it here in Connecticut. There is a ZERO percent chance that I would consider it. ZERO. There isn't enough money in this state to get me to stay here. I'll let you know where we end up.

I had the same thought when I heard the Johnson spot on the radio. There aren't too many places outside the Northeast that this would that happen! You have the candidates trying to out-RAT each other. Pragmatism works up to a point, but at some point convictions will take over.

That said, I haven't made my mind up yet. While there is virtually no difference between the candidates in most of the races and I disagree with them on many issues, I may end up holding my nose AGAIN and vote for the R(inos) if for no other reason than to keep the democRATs from gaining control. Especially when it comes to the control effecting the national picture.

I don't know why I even bothered to write this crap, since I have pretty much given up hope of restoring the Constitution in my lifetime. I've kind of settled into a reactionary posture, if that's the correct terminology.

Thank you for writing it. It's a sentiment shared by many of us here. I've pretty much given up on New England as far as politics go. The voter pool has been diluted by enough liberals with money, fleeing the metropolitan areas, thus infecting the electorate, that I'm not sure a Conservative will ever have a snowball's chance in hell of ever getting elected here or anywhere else in New England. That combined with the democRAT dominated cities going straight down the $hitter and the directly related increase in the "Gimme, gimme" electorate that comes with it, all but guarantees RAT control for the foreseeable future.

If not for deep family ties over the past few centuries, I'd have pulled up the anchor years ago. So I'm stuck and I'll try to do my best with what we have to work with. Sometimes the "He/She's marginally better than the alternative" is all we can, and will ever be able to, hope for. Such is life in the Constitution Constipation State.

Homeland defense sounds to much like Fatherland defense to me.

It wasn't Fatherland defense. It was, indeed, Heimatsicherheitsdienst. Brought to you by that paragon of Republican virtue, Heinrich Himmler.

Now do you believe there's a conspiracy?

Believe it or not, even dumb people want leaders who lead. Even dumb people want their leaders to take solid positions on issues.

Unfortunately, very few politicians are real leaders. I think you'll find politician in the dictionary somewhere between pablum and prostitute.

I do think you are misunderstanding the RNC's message. They are making the point to the voters that lil Tommy did not live up to his campaign promises. That does NOT mean they are for his programs, just that he LIED to the voters.

That is probably what your local pubbie is trying to point out also, that rats don't deliver on their promises and they are just using people.
