A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 10/30/02

Today, President Bush announced a proposal to expedite Senate confirmation of his judicial nominees. Of Bush's 131 nominees, the Senate has only voted on 80. The Judiciary Committee has rejected two nominees, Charles Pickering of Mississippi and Priscilla Owen of Texas. Of course, Patrick Leahy used the Democratic buzzword of this election year by stating the President was 'politicizing' the judicial selection process to create a partisan campaign issue. In brighter news, the White House hosted a 'Radio Days' today where national radio talk shows were given access to Bush administration. Once again, the Democrats cried that the White House gave special treatment to conservative radio shows in order to promote their election year agenda... blah, bla, blah blah blah.
Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya! I will, knowing that the Democrats are in a hissy fit today.

You're among friends, Ohio. We're all having the same problem.
I can't wait to hear about your BIG day. Sleep well.

If the Democrats are whining about "Talk Radio Day", they must be apoplectic about the following poll results:
[NOTE: I posted the link to a longer version of this article last evening.]
Poll: Bush has highest approval before his first midterm election of any U.S. president in 50 years
Tue Oct 29, 9:11 PM ET
By The Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Republicans entered the last week before U.S. legislative elections buoyed by a leader with the highest job approval ratings in half a century for a president entering his first midterm elections, according to a new poll.
U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites) had a job approval of 67 percent headed into the midterm elections, according to the ABC News poll, which is slightly better than the 61 percent job approval President Dwight Eisenhower had in the Gallup poll before the 1954 midterm elections.

FYI:
Karen Hughes, President Bush (news - web sites)'s longtime adviser, is seen at Texas Gov. Rick Perry's Houston headquarters in this, Sept. 30, 2002 file photo. The former White House counselor is writing a book about ``her unique relationship'' with President George W. Bush. ``10 Minutes From Normal'' will be released by Penguin Putnam in 2004, the publisher announced Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002. (AP Photo/David J. Phillip, file)

Now this is a book I'm just dying to read -- and it will be published just in time for the 2004 elections!!!!
Night All!

In this case (of a slow web server) "Denial of Service", as goodnesswins said in
Post #77, which also has a copy of a note from Jim Robinson, saying they are still working hard to figure it out. A Denial of Service involves beating up on a web site with lots of requests, trying to slow it down for legitimate users. The bad guys and clueless script kiddies have gotten good enough to take down the biggest servers on the web this way, such as Yahoo and Amazon, at times. It's a permanent war against them.
My guess would be it's not a DOS, or else Jim and John would be able to see the increased hit rate -- unusually large number of requests. Since Jim says they are still a clue short of a solution, it's apparently not something as easily identifiable as a DOS.
As bentfeather noted in Post #97, and marylina came close to guessing, "DOS" also stands for "Disk Operating System", which used to be the most common Microsoft operating system for PC's, before they put the nice looking Windows on top of it. Remember the old 24 line by 80 column character screens, often greenish colored - that was DOS.

That really is amazing that this information has made it into the news. It's a little encouraging, and I hope all the fence-sitters are taking it all in.
Those dems will stoop to ANYTHING to get into the limelight and gain power! That is what energizes them. It makes me sick.
My whole state of Illinois is just full of them, too. I have to do phone-bank calling on behalf of Hastert on Monday night, and I'll be pleading my guts out for pubbies to get out there and vote.

LOL! I LOVED the kitty litter cake. Me too! I could NOT eat that cake, even if I had made it myself! It's so realistic looking!

At the risk of totally embarrassing myself, which I am getting very good at lately BTW, I would like to offer the following website for everyone's enjoyment. It was sent to me by a RAT friend, and is really meant to make fun of President Bush, but it is SO MUCH FUN!
Please don't yell at me when you notice the link to some anti-war group, either; I saw it and chose to ignore. I put my own Bush speech together, complete with sound effects, and had a fantastic time! The screaming and crashing let me do some much-needed venting, too!
Here is the link to the Bush Speech Site.

You don't think that by now after the Ill pubbies viewed the BIG TOP over at MN they won't be energized enough to vote?

It's a little encouraging I kind of think during the Clinton Adm most folks put up with it because they had no choice and now that honor and respect has returned to the White House and the Country .. people are speaking up again.
OMG .. Bill Mahr is on Leno saying not nice things about Bush BUT you should see Leno defending the President

Ok, I will have to con my hubby into changing the channel from whatever it is he's watching. This is just too good to be true.

I'd love to think that some of the die-hard dems in this state would be swayed, but it's like moving cement. Their feet are stuck in the stuff. The state is just all connected to Daley, and they all spell trouble. Our almost ex-gov George Ryan has killed it for almost all the Republicans who might have otherwise had a chance. Very sad, but we'll keep on plugging.

I would like to offer the following website for everyone's enjoyment. This is really fun! I found that the makers of this site didn't include enough words so that a person can make a coherent sentence, which of course was their point. They are still "misunderestimating" our president. :-D
I found that it is easier to make short and to the point sentences. You can just put a space between your sentences and it comes out like individual sentences when you hit play.
