Today, President Bush announced a proposal to expedite Senate confirmation of his judicial nominees. Of Bush's 131 nominees, the Senate has only voted on 80. The Judiciary Committee has rejected two nominees, Charles Pickering of Mississippi and Priscilla Owen of Texas. Of course, Patrick Leahy used the Democratic buzzword of this election year by stating the President was 'politicizing' the judicial selection process to create a partisan campaign issue. In brighter news, the White House hosted a 'Radio Days' today where national radio talk shows were given access to Bush administration. Once again, the Democrats cried that the White House gave special treatment to conservative radio shows in order to promote their election year agenda... blah, bla, blah blah blah.

This is unfair to the nominees and their families. This process discourages good people from serving as judges. Bush on the cover of November 2002 Texas Monthly magazine. Long article about the changes his move to Crawford has made in that community...not all complimentary. No other pictures of Bush besides the cover that I could find, but that was a handsome one. Texas Monthly
