We now have video from Monday's freep! Our short clip stars Monica and the usual suspects. Monica is hilarious and just has to be seen to be believed, so check out the clip now!
Not much action from the opposition, but I did get a shot of a gigantic group of them moving in. What I found particularly intriguing is that about 1/3 of these people were wearing the Firefighters' event shirts and carrying the special "Firefighters for Davis" sign. So, even though there was a big draw in Clinton, many of the people we have seen are repeats from previous events.
They certainly aren't doing better in sign variety. We had, of course, about a million different types of sign, with no two alike. (You'll see ample evidence of this in the video). The Davis crowd has two signs: The generic red one we've seen millions of times, and the new Firefighters sign.
This makes me wonder if Davis has done special favors for firefighters lately; it doesn't seem to me that they should have had such a high proportion of attendance here. And why a sign only for the Firefighters, as opposed to (say) the Longshoremen or Prison Guards? Maybe Davis simply thinks the firefighters will be more popular with the public.
The video also contains some footage of the Greens' protest. I was struck by how subdued they were; seems like they expected us to just come up and be converted after seeing a few signs. One nice lady would occasionally yell out "Vote Green, not Gray", and there was a fellow who composed a nice little poem for us. So I guess we can say they're inventive - but when the camera was off, they simply stood there with their signs.
I was surprised there wasn't more energy. The Greens should have a real chance at genuine gains in this election, so they oughta be happy - but they didn't look it.
As always (or at least until I get Media Cleaner Pro), the video is in QuickTime. The story has a link to the web site where you can get it.
Hope you enjoy; I look forward to reading your comments!

You WILL need to download Apple's QuickTime software - click here to get it for FREE! - and it DOES work better on a FAST Internet connnection......but it is REALLY WORTH the effort!!!
We WILL "Dump DAVIS!"FREEP REPORT: We Freep the Creeps! (10/28/2002)

A brave band of enthusiastic freepers were in Inglewood to freep ex-President Clinton and his equally sleazy sidekick, soon to be ex-Governor Gray Davis!
A crowd of about 30-40 people were hoisting signs and banners, making a lot of noise in the process! And, as always, we got tremendous support from the traffic, with tons of honks and expressions of sympathy for the cause.
Unfortunately, thanks to tight security, we were unable to get anywhere near the actual event. It looks like they got a little smarter with this event - the venue had massive fences around it, and the event was about in the middle. The crowd of 1,000 (surely not that big for the likes of Clinton) was swallowed up by the enormous property, so it's likely that we couldn't have gotten much attention even if we had been allowed free movement.
Loud chanting of our favourite slogans - Hey Hey, Ho, Ho, Gray Davis Gotta Go!, DUMP DAVIS NOW, and many others made sure there was no doubt abbout the intensity of our support!
The star of the show was surely Monica Lewinsky, who was kind enough to visit and show here continued devotion to Bill. She was slimmer than the real Monica, but (and I hope I'm not offending her) had that perfect full-lipped charm, very much in the spirit of the legend.
As Hangfire would say, most of the "usual suspects" showed up, together with some new friends. We had RonDog, Outraged, Paola, Paola's Mom and many others. Unfortunately I have to finish this by 7:30 and it's already 7:25, so I can't dredge up any more names. I'm sure RonDog will soon arrive with the roll call.
This was a particularly fun freep for me, because I got to show off a brand new gadget, a Frezzi Dimmable Video Light, obtained at frightening cost from my pals at Samy's Camera in Hollywood. If it hadn't been for that light, I don't think anyone would have been able to get any pictures at all! The Outraged photos you see below were illuminated with my light, because it was so dark that it was impossible to see otherwise!
Adding to my amusement was USC journalism student Heather, who had a S-VHS camcorder on a tripod, but no light! She was sadly embarassed at her lack of gadgetry compared to the Freeper team, and asked me to illuminate her photographs and interviews. I, of course, amiably complied, so I have the same interviews she does on tape. I have to say that if Heather is really paying $36,000 a year for her instruction, the school oughta do better than S-VHS! Get with the 21st Century, guys!
Here are the pictures taken at the event, in roughly the order in which they were taken.

WHERE'S BUBBA? Nathanson letters keep Bill Clinton visit to L.A. (and our FReep!)
out of the news
Hide your daughters! (And watch your wallet!) BILL CLINTON & Gray Davis in L.A. 5pm TODAY! ^ | October 29, 2002 | RonDog

WHERE'S BUBBA?
What if the leader of the Democratic Party came to town, and NOBODY noticed?
From the FRONT PAGE of the online edition of today's Los Angeles Times:
Tuesday, October 29, 2002
Republican challenger Bill Simon Jr., left,
holds a news conference on the beach in
Malibu. Davis, right, campaigned in
Inglewood to get out the vote.(LAT)That's it: "Davis campaigned in Inglewood to get out the vote..."FREEP REPORT: We Freep the Creeps [Bill Clinton & Davis] 10/28/2002!
NO MENTION of BUBBA - ANYWHERE in today's L.A. Times!
(At least none that **I* could find!)
Talk about a "low profile" event!
FReepers are used to being ignored by the mainstream media, but Bubba?
You know that something is fishy when the ultra-left L.A. Times does not even MENTION that Bill Clinton was in Los Angeles last night for a political rally! We KNOW that he was there, thanks to Reuters...Even the Associated Press buried any mention of this event DEEP within the larger story...

I love freepers!
Or offer those $1 plastic rain ponchos for those in the front three rows, so they don't get anything on them. Kind of like Gallagher's "Sledge-O-Matic" comedy routine.

great video... thanks for broadcasting it!LOL!The video gives much more immediacy to things and neutralizes the absence of coverage of the event by the media.
THAT is the intent!!!See also, a few OTHER daviddennis FReep video masterpieces:

I really wonder how many people will bother showing up for Davis. The number of publications that have endorsed "None of the Above" for governor can't make him very confident in the outcome.
I'm disappointed in the media for not looking closer at Simon.
I must single out the Malibu Times for particular disappointment. Despite being part of a city virtually under seige by unfair Coastal Commission mandates, they refused to support a candidate for governor who would support them against the current Coastal Commission.
If there's one thing that should be clear from this campaign, it's that Davis has had a long history of using the Coastal Commission as his own private fund-raising bank. Anyone who owns property on the coast, or who (like me) has a distant dream of one day building a house there, should get informed about this issue.
