Lurkers from Fox News Channel - Hire FReeper BlueCollarMan as Your Sniper Profiler! (vanity)
FreeRepublic and bluecollarman's 10/8 sniper profile post ^ | 10/8/2002 and 10/24/2002 | bluecollarman (with posting by FreedomPoster)

This is a vanity I'm posting to salute bluecollarman.

We've all watched the idiot profilers for the last couple of weeks, mostly fingering a 30-ish crazy white male militia member as the likely perp. Well, way back on 10/8, FReeper bluecollarman just nailed the profile of the perp. Here's a portion of his post (linked above), from 10/8!

Okay here is my conclusion , For what it's worth,  which is not much.

A Single Shooter, Dark Skin  or Black Man, 20-30, Muslim with US Military Training with M-16, probably Marine. Maybe hired or just pissed off.

Since this is my sincere belief, it will probably turn out to be a white  pimply faced teenager with his first gun who is mad at his girlfriend.

Fox News Channel lurkers - you guys should hire BlueCollarMan to do future perp profiles. He's a heck of a lot better than those "profiler" goobers y'all paraded past us for the last couple of weeks.

I salute the heck out of Bluecollarman. Possibly only Jerry Falwell was even a close second -- he knew that "Muhammad was a terrorist", several days ago!

Maybe they used the tripod early on, before they cut a hole in the car trunk. I've only used camera tripods, but you couldn't stand one up in a car trunk!?

Doesn't sound like a two legged thing would give accuracy to a gun resting on it. I'm a woman who'se never hunted, so I'm not familiar with this stuff.

You're a Marine, and you're buying the reporting that a "tripod" was used? How many rifle tripods have you seen in use?

It was almost required due to his position in the trunk.

The third leg, so to speak, would be the shoulder or hand that is firing. That provides the balance. From what I have seen, the legs are only about a foot in length. They may be adjustible? Maybe someone here knows. Some of the threads on the snipers weapon have pictures.

Bi-pods are used by some, but rarely. They are used (if at all) most often, around my locale, by the cattlemen shooting ground squirrels. The squirrels make a very small target, and one needs to stay back aways (like 100-200 yrds) for the little critters to feel safe enough to come out of their holes and run around.
Most all bipods are fairly short legged, which require for their use, the rifleman to either lay prone on the ground, or use a stationary object as a rest. All of the above can equate with greater accuracy, which is why the varmit shooters pay the extra dollars, and expend the extra effort and hassle to use a bi-pod. Otherwise, the common military uses have been mentioned by others on this thread, already. All in all, the ground squirrels seem to be fairly well holding their own, in this one-sided, small arms conflict.

I kinda doubt the tripod reports since the fool was shooting from the trunk of his old beater. Some dufus reporter heard someone mention a bipod and he translated that (via echoes in his empty noggin) to tripod.
