This guy changed his name, much like John Walker Lindh changed his name to Abdullah Mohammad Shiekh or something like that.

I had the feeling this was a wider conspiracy..
The police knew about much of this all along, and only now they feel confident enough to tell the press about it.
I had a bad feeling about this....

I thought Richard Reid the shoe bomber was from England?
He's probably from England, with connections to Jamica.

You're right. Per http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/1731568.stm, he was born and raised in London of an English mother and Jamaican father.

Harrumph, the HTML robot interpreted my comma as part of the URL. If you go there, get rid of the comma and the BBC story will load.

... a source said the stump would be returned to Washington, D.C., for analysis.

I know this is proper procedure, but something about sending a tree stump clear across the country for analysis strikes me as amusing. Talk about central planning, etc.

I swear to god I thought I heard Chief Moose say "discharge" when he meant to say "this charge".

Please tell me I am wrong.

Idiot writer doesn't even know how big this country is. The article refers twice to Tacoma and Washington being 2000 miles apart. Geez.

"This guy changed his name..."

True, but I doubt that he changed his name to "Mohammed" when he was inducted into the Klan, which is more or less what the FBI profile released yesterday (40-year-old white male loner NRA gun nut) implied. With that name, and a Jamaican stepson, he's prettly clearly an American-born Black Muslim. Lone nutcase or terrorist has yet to be determined.
