All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

You know - not only does this all seem like a movie script, but 'Mohammed' looks quite a bit like Denzel Washington...

It's a stretch...maybe a very very angry Denzel Washington on a boatload of amphetamines... ;-)

On a side note, good GOD, I am a news junkie...I'm already going on two hours worth of sleep in four days due to 1) Computer problems and 2) News junkie fixes (which is why I needed the computer fixed :p)

Any way to go cold turkey, or is it OKAY to want to brew up a pot of coffee and wait for yet more incredible revelations...? I kinda feel disgusted at myself that I've gotten so caught up in this...ah well, no way out now. :p

Losing control? The net is closing in, c'mon. ;-) And I'm probably in the minority here in sticking up for Moose -- the higher-ups put him out there as cannon fodder, and so far, he's done a good job. I also saw the press conference tonight on TV, and he didn't look *any* more pained than he usually does (same furrowed brow).

We're close, and what we find from this could possibly lead to intelligence-gathering that prevents future terrorist or psuedo-terrorist attacks of this nature...just trying to look at it with the glass half-full. :-)

I'd rephrase as "brace for the worst", but I share your sentiment...however, you don't know for sure what the authorities are doing; how much of this is deliberate misinformation, etc. (none of us do). That being said, Moose obviously 1) Was not going to say what they wanted him to say, which is that he had caught the sniper, and 2) The rest of it COULD be complete jibber-jabber meaning nothing, or perhaps there's a code phrase in there somewhere (I was struck by "our word is our bond"; it seemed very odd, other than Duck & Noose :p)

Obviously there has been some kind of coordinated nationwide crackdown after gov't diverted resources...someone pointed out earlier in the thread that Bush's comments earlier reflected the attitude that he KNOWS this guy is going down, from some kind of intel (otherwise why would he not jump on the political capital all over there...by diverting more resources and so on, which he refused to do...could come out as a big hero pre-election...if my theory holds water, he's already got the political capital in the bank because this is about to crack wide open).

This is one of the rare times I find myself in the role of optimisit. ;-) Seriously! :p
