The shooter is a monster. He's a psychopath with absolutely no concern for human life. NOT EVEN HIS OWNSo you are agreeing that he is a Muslim?
To: Alamo-Girl
Thanks for the heads up! Does it strike anyone odd that the "anywhere, anytime" phrase is common in the demands for Iraq weapons inspections? Hmm??.....could be.
To: It's me
I apologize. I meant that the sniper/snipers could up the ante and kill more than one person each time, and maybe that is what was threatened.
It is also an odd coincidence that detainees were released at Gitmo as other posters have related.

I'm not saying to put children in peril. Is this all it takes to hold our entire nation hostage? One nutcase with a "sniper rifle". God save us should we ever fall on truely trying times.
To: Grampa7030
Thank you! I strongly suspect this is a sampling (much like the anthrax attacks) - to see how the U.S. will react to sniper terror in its security stronghold in the D.C. area. It strikes me as too cold blooded and too attentive to detail to be a hot-head or lone gunman.
To: Alamo-Girl
I think it has nothing to do with whether he's an American or not. Any psycopath, feeling sufficiently marginalized from society, would use that phrase.
Would you have expected him to say "our" children?
To: concerned about politics
What I should have typed is "those from Middle Eastern countries."
You are so insensitive you racist {/sarc}

MeeknMing - anyone have an exact transcript of the press conference we just had a little while ago? It's my impression that Moose was reading the PS on the 3-page letter because the shooter wanted him to read it and also wanted him to be precise. Remember a few weeks ago an AQ member released a statement that Americans were not safe anyplace, anytime? This recent statement by the sniper sounds so similar. Anyway - anyone with transcript please ping me or Freepmail me. Thanks so much.

Can you imagine living in Israel?
To: swheats
well if you live in the area you may have noticed, at every major intersection there are police cars, They are patrolling heavily all over the metro area. I have seen more cop cars out on the roads everywhere, from state police, county cops, sheriffs, and Federal cops as well. That is why they are there so quickly.

I strongly suspect this is a sampling (much like the anthrax attacks) . . . And yet there hasn't been an anthrax attack in more than a year. But there have been no arrests, no suspects, and no solid leads in that case.
To: citizenx7
This is what the Second Amendment is all about! That idiot Carvell was saying on TV today that the Government needs to get these deadly assult weapons off the street if Americans want to be safe on their own streets. He said there's no such thing as a second ammencment right. It's just an NRA fabrication to keep a bunch of gun owners on the streets.
The Democrats are using this issue like there's no tomarrow. "It's the gun owners and the NRA that's responsible for these killings."
I dispise talking head Democrats.
To: MeeknMing
The cold-heartedness, warnings, attention to detail, discipline, geographic area ... make this look like a terror sampling to me (like the anthrax letters.)

Thank you, thank you very much.

Lincoln, NE. Yes I know. Now comes the part where you attack me for not living in Maryland. Sniper or no sniper I never would consider living there.
To: Grampa Dave
Thanks for posting this and the ping! You bet, Grampa !

I guess I wanted the planes to be the solution, looking for something the government could do to fight this menace.
To: Luis Gonzalez
WOULDNT IT BE SOMETHING IF SNIPER ENTERED U.S. FROM MEXICO??
THANKS,DUBYA!!!!

About the only theory I have not heard on here is that it is Eric Rudolph. That theory probably is running wild on DU.No, DU thinks it's a crazed plan by Bush and Ashcroft to steal the election. With all the news crews focused on the 'Serial Sniper', they don't have time to air the dems' hate ads and lies about the economy. It's scary, they actually believe the sniper works for the government. Well, no one ever said they were the sharpest tools in the shed ;)
