Thanks for the ping. This is spinning out of control.

What ever happened to the following story?
4 PAKISTANIS JUMP SHIP
Were they ever found? Weren't some found in San Antonio? Or was that another INS miscue?....

i agree with you, moose is doing an excellent job in an awful situation. i don't think anyone believes he's totally in control of this investigation, the FBI is in charge and at this point perhaps even homeland security and intelligence.
To: concerned about politics
That's not true. No Muslims have been hit. Nor was the religion of any of the victims known to the shooter... That does not mean there is a conscious effort to avoid killing muslims. None were wearing burkhas, but not all muslims do.

No Muslims have been hit.
How do you know? Have they been announcing the religion of the victims?

What if these carpet jockeys are asking to have all the Gitmos released or something equally impossible. This could be the start of a whole new war on our land. This is most likely organized terrorism with different killers that all look different if anyone sees them. Bets are that the killing this morning was proof that he was talking to the real killer.
Pray for GW and DC!

It's a good idea to be careful. I was only meaning not to let him dictate your life. What are you doing in a Socialist state like Maryland anyway?

Has anyone noticed how we have recently (just this week) released prisoners from Guantanamo. Ironic association is it not? I speculated AQ (snipers?) wanting prisoners from GITMO a couple of days ago. Maybe releasing the prisoners is an easier transaction then giving the Snipers millions of dollars (which could still be on the table).

Most of the Brit school kids and smaller kids were sent to the country to live. We know several who lived out of London and major cities until the Blitz was well over.
Only idiots put their children at peril to prove some point.

Who's to say they're not going to launch attacks in other areas/states also since they know this is being broadcast nationwide...

I used to live in Alexandria and then Arlington and have plenty of family in Fairfax. Have people in the DC area started talking about making this a positive thing - by forming community watch groups who routinely patrol their neighborhoods?
Gas stations could give out free coffee and cokes to people who want to do watch duty. Neighbors could use this as an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better while performing a valuable service. While the threat of being shot obviously exists, I wouldn't expect the sniper(s) to shoot into a group of people looking for him.

"Muslim" is not an age, gender, or nationality. His statement made no reference to religion. LOL. I thought about that after I posted it. What I should have typed is "those from Middle Eastern countries."

"I note we announced today that we are letting go some detainees from Guantanamo out. Is there a link to the shooter's threats/messages?" I've been expecting this to happen and Rumsfeld announcing it on TV proves it. We are under attack here in the Washington D.C. area. If al-Q can make the FEDs do this by shooting up the area, the FEDS will cave into any demand. Why don't they just come out and admit that foreign terrorist are roaming the country and can pretty much do anything they please? I guess the federal government doesn't want to be held responsible for its dangerous and suicidal visa and immigration policies.
To: MeeknMing
I don't know...my husband had just asked me about it (with respect to the recent events in the D.C. area) and I thought someone on FR might know the answer.

Does anybody know why the "spy" plane did not pick up the muzzle flash so this perp can be nailed?Offhand, I'd say that in a non-urban environment, with a cool earth background and little artificial light, a muzzle flash would stand right out and be detected. But in the city, with many heat sources and flashing lights everywhere, it would be a good trick indeed to discriminate a muzzle flash from, say, the strobes on top of all those cop cars. I don't know the capabilities of these planes but it seems like trying to spot a flashlight on the surface of the sun.

Our response to this has been cowardly and pathetic.
Says the guy who lives.... where?

In addition, a crazy lunatic serial killer would not be threatening "your children".....remember he thinks that he is GOD so if he were consistent he should have said "our children"
Well, we know it's not the Toons, because they would have said "
the children."

We're in a period similar to the phony war in World War II. We're at war, but the country is on a peacetime footing. As the environment grows more hostile, one suspects PC will go by the board, but PCers are stilling running things.
To: ImaGraftedBranch
Someone with no kids would use that wording I think. I think he is a section 8, 20-something ex-military wanna be sniper. This reeks of US military training. Except the part about killing innocent civilians. That's just cowardice.
To: Mustang
Thanks.
I think he's doing the best he can. Seems the Feds oughta do more, and possibly they are - in the background.
