OH, you won't hear any police secrets, but you might hear about "shot fired" or "dispatch squad to Main St" type of stuff!!

Thanks for bringing those comments to my attention. My thought would be that they'd love to target cities with conservative leaders. How better to further the aspirations of the leftists in our nation, who by defacto are often the allies of terrorists when they act in their own political interests above those of this nation.

My first two cents on the sniper: I suspect this may be research by a terrorist cell or sympathizer(s) because (a) the care taken in getting in and out of position, (b) the selection of targets challenge each thing the newscasters observe hasn't been done, i.e. to maximize the terror impact, (c) it is happening in the most secured area of the country, i.e. Washington area - as if a test of the worst case scenario, (d) the discipline to limit each attack to a single shot, (e) the timing of other world events.
To me, the attention to detail smacks of the anthrax attack - a controlled statistical sampling - the kind of approach I would expect more of Iraq than al Queda, though it could be one and the same. I would not be surprised to see the same end result - no visible success, but a lot happening behind the scenes through the intelligence community.

Alright well I agree with all that ;-)

Well, It's not Muslim terrorist that's for sure. That thought can be put to rest??? Funny because I just changed my mind yesterday and arrived at the opposite conclusion: From video crazed punks to mercenaries hired by Saddam. So can you explain?

There is no faucet in the world like the United States. Easiest place to launder money, easiest place to set up fronts (i.e., cash businesses, charities, etc.), and the strongest currency in the world (especially when it comes to arms transactions).
The Irish Republican Army has known this for years.
To: MJY1288
I don't doubt that. However you may have noticed that we're at war with one set terrorists and are declaring war on another.
To: MJY1288
Okay. How do YOU know it's not a Muslim terrorist? Art thou he/she/it/the shooter?
To: Kerberos
O.K. but in the bicycle theory, what happens to the weapon?
He/They hide rifle in culvert, ditch, etc. and go back and get it later.

His/her sister is on the task force

The thought has crossed my mind that "they" may be measuring our responses, both governmentally and socially.
It still is just SO "professional" and calculated, isn't it?

My guess is that this is the work of a disturbed white male in his late twenties early thirties who is a delivery person in Mont. Co. his explains his actions off the main highway in the Montgomery Co. Area and all of his other crimes were a very short distance from a major highway.
Todays shooting is at least 5 miles from any major highway (495, 270, 95, Rt1 ECT)

But short of an incredibly lucky break, is there ANY other way this guy CAN be caught? What about this?
Have the Geo=profilers come up with their best guess for the sniper's home/work/significant area.
Declare martial law and have the National Guard enforce a curfew.
Conduct a house by house questioning of residents, paying particular attention to registered gun owners. Ask for residents who have alibis for the shootings to have these prepared so they can be eliminated quickly.
Have bloodhound teams visit house by house to see if they get a hit.
This might flush him out.

Hi A-G, welcome to the fray! You're going to have John H K on your case as he swears there is no evidence that it is a ME person or sympathizer.
I'm surprised how little evidence is shared with the public to date. Today's press conference nailed it for me that it is terrorists that we're dealing with.

Click on "Live Coverage" and there are some emergency dispatch links, not exactly police scanners but close. I read somewhere that after 9/11 law enforcement asked web hosts to take down police scanner streams. I have a bunch bookmarked from pre 9/11 and none of them work so I am guessing it is true. Fire/Rescue are still up.

This sniper better stop what he's doing 'cuz it'll give the liberals another excuse to take away our 2nd Amendment Rights.
To: Grampa Dave
They shoot someone and put the jacket on and wait a few minutes and walk around with some yellow police tape and a walkie talkie radio. Who is going to stop them or even pay much attention to grunts in the field with official jackets.I agree. There has to be something like that. In that case, though, he should be using and carrying THE SAME RIFLE these guys have so as not to attract attention. Do you know what the Alphabet guys carry?

Indeed ... it takes a tremendous amount of discipline, which I would not expect of a hot-head or a lone gunman.

If this guy were as incompetent as you intimate, the feds would have taken over. The comments I've heard other law enforcement observers make, is that he'd doing a good job. How would you have handled things differently?
