Al-Qaeda claims fatal shooting of US marine in Kuwait
DUBAI, OCT 18 (AFP)
A shooting attack in Kuwait which killed a US marine and wounded another was purportedly claimed by al-Qaeda today.
The statement, published by an Islamist website, also claimed the US has covered up "huge losses" during the October 8 attack during marine training on Failaka island, 20 kilometres east of Kuwait City.
"We hail this courageous and successful operation ... that caused huge losses to the Americans," said the Arabic-language statement signed by the "political office" of the terror group carried by the www.jehad.net website.
The statement, whose authenticity could not be immediately verified, goes on to accuse the United States of "covering up the huge losses of marines, and saying the bloody operation killed one and wounded another." The statement claims that "to cover up the degree of their losses, the Americans did not allow Kuwaiti police to investigate the incident." It claims the US forces "prevented, for four hours leading Kuwaiti officials and the interior and defence ministries to land on Falaika island, to have enough time to evacuate the bodies by helicopter to US aircraft carriers in the Gulf." The two shooters- later identified as Anas Ahmad Ibrahim al-Kandari, 21, and Jassem Hamad Mubarak al-Hajeri, 26- were gunned down by U S troops.
Kuwait has branded the incident a "terrorist attack" and has arrested 15 suspects it is accusing of forming an "organization" which had planned to strike at five other US and foreign targets.

Jeremy Reynalds did a story on the CyberWurx links to porn and Chris Schwarz got huffy and had a lawyer send Jeremy nastygrams. Jeremy responded -- 'Show me what parts of the story are untrue and I will retract them'. So far, CyberWurx has not pointed out which parts of the story are untrue.

The FBI believes that Hamas has even gone so far as to set up a for-profit American corporation. On September 5, 2001, agents from the Joint Terrorism Task Force operating out of Dallas, Texas, executed a search warrent against InfoCom Corporation, and Internet service provider in Richardson Texas, for its ties to Hamas. Though the affadavit requesting approval for the search of InfoCom's offices remains classified, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) notified InfoCom that two of its bank accounts, totaling $70,000, had been frozen due to a lump-sum investment of $250,000 provided to InfoCom in 1993 by Nadia Elashi Marzook, the wife of Musa abu Marzook (the "Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas" -- he directly provided the funds and ordered the killing of hundreds of Israelis). As a by-product of the search instituted against InfoCom, the Bureau of Export Administration had suspended InfoCom's export privileges based on suspicions that InfoCom had violated U.S. Export control laws by making shipments to Libya and Iran, two states listed as state sponsors of terrorism. Furthermore, subpoenas were served on two of InfoCom's clients, the Islamic Association of Palestine and the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. Ghassan Dahduli, a former empolyee of InfoCom and an officer in the American Middle Eastern League for Palestine (AMELP) - a 501(c)(3) charity with direct links to the Islamic Association for Palestine - was taken into custody by federal authorites on September 22, 2001, after refusing to answer questions. Dahduli has aslo been implicated as an associate of one of the individuals who was convicted for a role in the August 1998 attacks on the United States embassies in Africa
You may want to see if there are any connections between al-Qaeda websites and those of Hamas or Hezbollah. While al-Qaeda apparently has a working relationship with Hezbollah, they have sharply criticized Hamas in the Arab press as being "too moderate" in their adoption of a national Islamic front rather than a global one, it may be interesting to see whether or not this apparent terrorist feud extends beyond the Egyptian and Palestinian newspapers.
"Bingo! -- could explain why several ISPs fight long and hard to keep sites up which are bent on murdering Americans even after they've been presented with absolute proof and exact translations of what appears in Arabic on their sites -- the management of the ISP could be 'on the take'."
I have a hunch that this may in fact be the case. Remember, Azzam.com was only initially shut down after the news about the company that was hosting it was linked to the mainstream press. Perhaps some of the ISP managers feared that a deeper probe could uncover that there was more going on between Azzam and the ISP than mere webhosting ...
You may also want to take a look at Kavkaz Center, the official website of the Chechen jihad, to see if any other al-Qaeda websites are hosted on their server.
Yes. There are. In the Haganah database we can see numerous instances where Al-Qaeda websites are served up to the world by the same ISPs serving Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorist orgs. This is in direct violation of numerous U.S. laws.

The Azzam.com domain is now being served up from Everyone's Internet in Houston -- along with Qassam, military wing of Hamas. EV1.NET also hosts neo-nazi websites such as Stormfront and the Texas American Knights of the Klu Klux Klan.
The actual Azzam source is at http://www.waaqiah.com at Vibus Limited, Belfast North Ireland. More research into both these ISPs is clearly needed.
