CALIFORNIANS have reason to want a new governor.

The state budget has a gap the size of Yosemite Valley. High electricity bills are the persistent hangover from the energy crisis. The phrase ``broke new ground'' applies to the incumbent principally in his manner of raising campaign money.

Well, we have already seen Davis' track record as governor. May providence -- and a lot of Republican voters turning out -- save us from another 4 years of Davis.

the only thing difficult in their decision to endorse davis was how to seem credible with their endorsement they wouldnt endorse a repub if their lives depended on it these papers dont even hide their bias anymore

When I used to live in the Bay Area I referred to this particular newspaper as the "Marxist-Spew". Sure enough, they live down to that name time and time again.

The answer to this article is obvious, Simon is not a professional politician, he is a business man and that is a good thing. California is in desperate need of good business management, they have had too many professional politicians.

I see.

These editorialists would rather have a known crook than a gifted amateur. Right.

Says reams about liberals doesn't it?

"Bumbling?" I don't find Simon "bumbling" at all. I find him refreshingly honest!

I would use the word "bumbling" more to describe Davis, who has been "bumbling" from one crisis to the next in California, and the only thing he can come up with is to raise our taxes and increase illegal immigration.

Bumbling? Perhaps they mean "Stumbling," you know, how most people look with a half dozen daggers sticking between their shoulderblades.

You're right...remember?..."they" said that about Reagan AND Bush.

This sounds like a George Costanza, if "they" tell you Davis is better, "stick with the opposite."

Also reminds me of the question..."If you're in an abusive relationship, do you stay in it, because you -know what to expect- OR do you DO something about it?

Did ANY of these people writing these columns see SIMON in the debate? He was marvelous! --Well thought out answers, clearly communicated ideas, and Davis was the one that looked like the rookie.

I say ELECT SIMON --at least he has a conscience and "book smarts!" GIVE CLARK KENT A CHANCE!!!

"These editorialists would rather have a known crook than a gifted amateur."

I'm not sure "gifted" is appropriate in Simon's case. He hasn't demonstrated much in the way of management skills in the way he's run his campaign.

Still, the San Jose Mercury has chosen to cast their lot with "They devil they know, not the devil that's a Republican..."

Legislation Davis signed has protected the environment.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

This from the paper that uncovered Davis's stunt to allow increased Dioxon in the San Francisco bay for a $70,000 campaign contribution?????

Have they no shame?
