By Mark Silva | Sentinel Political Editor
Posted October 19, 2002
...Although various polls have suggested that the governor's race is close, a new survey showing Bush with a 9-point lead over McBride gave cheer to the Republicans on Friday.
The poll by McLaughlin & Associates of Alexandria, Va., done for U.S. Sugar Corp., shows Bush with 49.2 percent to McBride's 40.5 percent, with the remainder undecided. The margin of error was 4 percent. Six hundred people were surveyed by phone Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Jim McLaughlin, the pollster, said Bush was running solidly ahead in all parts of the state except South Florida. The results contrast with a Zogby International poll from last week, showing a three-point lead for the governor....

Yes, I have noticed that about McMumble - he is just awful on-camera. There's no polite way to put it - just awful. Gov Bush, by contrast, does great on tv.

Presidential material? Now I've heard everything. The truth is that attorneys in Tampa, many of them, think he's a real jerk, he's very stupid imo and he cannot even make a proper sentence. The dems called him McBoring at the 2001 summer meeting in Orlando. He's very close to the tobacco industry through his wife and the law firm he mismanaged. No wonder he wants to tax cigarettes - there's got to be a kickback in there somewhere or a tobacco subsidy for his wife's relatives back in North Carolina.
The guy is bad news and all the buzz about him is fabricated. He's spending this weekend with the couple who entertained Elian Gonzalez before he was taken back to communist Cuba to Fidel. Elian will be a field hand in a year or two. McBride will hang with anyone who will hand him some cash.
I know much more but the media is going to have to "out" this guy if they want to. The debate is this Tuesday at 7:00 pm est. Probably will be on c-span afterwards. McBride can't even talk. lol
I have to be positive re: Governor Bush's campaign - let the professionals find out what a dangerous, empty suit McBribe is. He's scary and awkward and BRAINLESS. I think someone had to talk his wife into dating him, etc. He's so ewe. There, that felt good. LOL

The bittersweet election at McBride's college is on my profile page. There were voting irregularities. The election was done twice (beware) and McBride lots by tons of votes the second time around. His platform back then was for "more beer" or something like that.

Barbara Bush's voice called me too. Additonally, she did this type of recording for her son the POTUS. She has great diction too. It was a great message. "We love our son Jeb and we'd like you to vote for him and the entire Republican ticket. Don't forget to vote." something like that.
I liked her emphasis on the word "ticket".

With the campaign entering its final two weeks, McBride joined former President Bill Clinton and his wife, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, at a fund-raising luncheon Friday in Connecticut.Notice Mcbribe doesn't want be seen in Florida with the serial rapist or the serial obstructionist to raise his blood money--he has to resort to bumping uglies with them in a blue-haired RAT sanctuary.

Matthews' ratings are now below Donahue. Let this truly liberal blowhard rant against the Bush brothers all he wants. The reality is that fewer and fewer people are tuning in.

Lee County is also the home of Sanibel Island ("shelling capital of the world"), Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox spring training, televangelist Dan Betzer (sp?) and his Silverdome, and is majority Republican. It's more a collection of individuals than a community, imho, and it's beautiful. (^:

Thanks for your post, interesting. Reminds me of Sir Walter Scott's famous line: "Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive."

Who listens to Matthews? He is only a fraction higher in ratings than Donahue...

Not all of us live in FloriDUH, some of us actually live in the Sunshine State! Great line, RBurke. Great thread, summer!

Jeb's One Florida plan is
helping minorities. The NAACP is all over the newsmedia for the Dems., claiming that black voters are mad at Jeb because he ended affirmative action. None of these crack journalists have bothered to check the facts, that Jeb's plan is working.
Plenty of facts to share w/ Chris Matthews and the press.
Instead of celebrating, Jesse Jackson and the NAACP are suing.

I confess I've been to the DU. They are planning a million voter march for Thanksgiving Time if Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris beat the dems. Don't you just love quotes like this?
"So we must vote in record numbers and hope it goes our way. But with Ashcroft's Justice Department down here to keep the elections "honest", I am not optimistic."
Hurry, up G-Men, step on it!

I hope you felt as good writing it as I felt reading it! LOL! Go Jeb!

I have to give the posters at that Dem site credit, because they know they are going to lose. They are not taking it well, but, they know Jeb will be the next governor. In that sense, they are smarter than Chris Matthews, Judy Woodruff and all the other pundits who are dreaming about an election night upset that will never happen here in FL.
