By Mark Silva | Sentinel Political Editor
Posted October 19, 2002
...Although various polls have suggested that the governor's race is close, a new survey showing Bush with a 9-point lead over McBride gave cheer to the Republicans on Friday.
The poll by McLaughlin & Associates of Alexandria, Va., done for U.S. Sugar Corp., shows Bush with 49.2 percent to McBride's 40.5 percent, with the remainder undecided. The margin of error was 4 percent. Six hundred people were surveyed by phone Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Jim McLaughlin, the pollster, said Bush was running solidly ahead in all parts of the state except South Florida. The results contrast with a Zogby International poll from last week, showing a three-point lead for the governor....

I didn't think it was possible, but Matthews has become even more insufferable that usual lately. I just find it impossible to watch him anymore for longer than, oh, 30 seconds.

Good points.
Gov Bush, warmly welcomed at Polk County's "Politics in the Park."
BTW, Gov Bush greatly increased funding for FL's disabled population, while McMumble has not yet mentioned FL's disabled population.

Why?
Zogby's Fl numbers are not that far from the other ( INDP ) polls for FL or any other states.

Matthews is now totally insane. The SNL parodies aren't even goofy enough.
This morning Christopher Hitchens was on with Tony Snow and you could tell Hitchens didn't know how to act with someone who asks a thoughtful question and then sits back and lets him answer, taking as much time as he needs.

I am not suprised by this poll the dems have been saying this was a horserace since the primary the only real suprise here is that mcbride is over 40%
my only concern is jeb does need to hit that 50% mark and hit it soon

In the last 2 Governors races, Jeb won handily in 1998 with 55% of the vote.

In 1994, Jeb was narrowly defeated by rat voter fraud in Broward and Palm Beach counties 2,135,008-2,071,068 (50.8%-49.2%)
Jeb has consistently gotten over 2,000,000 votes in the last 2 statewide elections.
No Democrook running for Governor in Florida ever got more total votes than the 2,174,741 realized by Jeb 4 years ago.
McBribe is not the guy thats going to do it.
In spite of the socialist crooks in the DNC's lies to the contrary, it is McLawyer who is going to have a hard time getting out his base in South Florida, in that he and his goons stole the election away from their canidate Reno, and then further insulted them by picking white socialist Tom Rossin as his running mate.
Looks like the Democrats are in big trouble in Florida!.

FOX did a piece last week on how Zogby had suddenly gone into a ditch credibility-wise. Apparently his questions were so biased that it was obvious he was looking for a certain outcome.
He came off worse in their overall comparison than the one you showed. Still interesting though.

It does seem to me that McBride has been getting a free ride in the national press. Some have even mentioned him as a future Presidential prospect.I certainly hope so!.

Thanks for the ping. While the poll is good news I wonder why a sugar company is comissionsing a poll.
