Sympathy For The Devil....[Saturday Morning Vanity]

How poignant Mick Jagger's old song seems today. Back in the sixties I interpreted it as just the musings of an angry young man, the positing of a theory regarding the existence of evil, which of course, has existed since the beginning of time.
But now it seems we're being introduced to "him" or "it" again. The devil, Lucifer, evil, whatever one chooses to call it. In my mind, "it" is fanatic Islam, not a religion, but more of a "goal." A huge, fluid, organic conglomerate of evil that must make Charlie Manson absolutely green with envy. Helter Skelter on the "big" screen.
Sympathy For The Devil(Jagger/Richards)
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long long year stolen
many man's soul and faith
I was around when Jesus Christ
had His moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
washed his hands and sealed His fate
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game
Stuck around St. Petersburg when I
saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Tzar and his ministers,
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank held a gen'rals rank
when the blitzkrieg raged and the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name. Oh yeah
Ah what's puzzling you is the nature of my game. Oh yeah
I watched the glee while your kings and queens
fought for ten decades for the Gods they made
I shouted out "Who killed the Kennedy's?"
when after all it was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I lay traps for troubadors who get
killed before they reach Bombay
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name. Oh yeah
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game. Oh yeah
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal and
all the sinners, Saints
as heads is tails, just call me Lucifer
'cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me, have some courtesy
have some sympathy and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
or I'll lay your soul to waste
Pleased to meet you hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you is the nature of my game

No, I'm not a huge fan of Jagger. No, I'm not saying I agree with all of his lyrics here. Just posting some musings I've had this morning, and decided to share them.

As the amoral figurehead of the Devil's shock troops, Bill Clinton has to be one of the most sinister figures to ever stain American politics. I can see him tooting this song on his saxophone, completely oblivious to the irony.

"Ah what's puzzling you is the nature of my game. Oh yeah "
So there is evil on the planet and it has a controller someone who is in charge. Satan has a plan for controlling the earth. So this isn't new just that most churches don't preach this anymore and that is sad. Most churches are into 60's feel good "I'm OK, your're OK," garbage that has no truth but is popular in today's culture.
So this profound impact on our culture in the 60's and early 70's the cultural revolution has so changed America's outlook on evil that you are shocked. The reality is that this is how we viewed evil historically and there is truth in this view.
P.S. Don't tell any liberals about this.

This is my musing this morning as I think and wonder:
When I look at the stark raving faces of these IslamaKazis I see this evil look -- it is just evil.
The last time I saw this was in Vietnam in 1969 -- the Viet Cong that the media made into saints -- when we would capture one they looked so evil. Some of these guys were so suicidial and bent on taking lives like the Muslim-Crazies.

Good News For The Day
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath ( Mark 2:24)
"Except for God himself, there is nothing in the practice of religion that is more sacred than humanity. Men and women lose their dignity under any regime that sanctifies anything above men and women."
"In Communism, and Fascism the... system---is everything. The individual is subservient to the plan; to the state."
"Years ago a novelist, Barbara Goldberg wrote:"
"You see that bridge; that huge red naked thing of steel? Magnificent eh?
And there-no, there, right at the top. A little dot that sways and crawls along,
fearful lest it lose its dizzy head, and dash into oblivion. Pitiful isn't it?
That pygmy being with its two small hands, and smaller brain,
you see him? Well, he made the bridge!"
"People are greater than things. They are not like bridges; they build them! It is therefore as it should be, that God, when he sought to reveal himself to the world, did so through a human personality-the noblest thing in all creation. Not only were human beings honored by the incarnation, they were dignified by Jesus' own treatment of his fellows. Habitually he reserved his kindest attentions to human life in its frailest forms. Jesus gave the world a spiritual perspective that every religious obedience secondary, to our duty to care for one another."

When I look at the stark raving faces of these IslamaKazis I see this evil look -- it is just evil. I've felt that way ever since I was a kid and use to watch Popeye and Ali Babba. Even back then, the cartoon portrayed the ragheads as evil liars that could not be trusted. Ole Popeye whooped their a$$es and I loved it. It was in fact portraying good against evil.
It seems absurd but in a way the representations in that cartoon have become a reality.

Well, I'm a huge fan of Mick and the boys, love Sympathy, one of the greatest and most important songs ever by anyone anytime.
The lyrics are more profound and wise then their authors, as the words of many songs back then, and since, were and are.
I hear ya, Eggs. The Enemy we face today is the same as yesterday, part of his thrill is the guessing game, and our ignorance and denial of his true nature and identity.

Paul Silhan, on "Scandal in the Wind", did a great parody on this entitled "Sympathy For The Poor Devil" featuring X42.

9/11 song by rush lyrics Neil Peart
Peaceable Kingdom
A waive toward the clearing the sky
All this time we're talking and sharing our rational view
A billion other voices are spreading other news
All this time we're living and trying to understand
Why a billion other choices are making their demands
Talk of a peaceable kingdom
Talk of a time without fear
The ones we wish would listen
Are never going to hear
Justice against the hanged man
Knight of Wands against the hour
Swords against the kingdom
Time against the tower
All this time we're shuffling and laying out all our cards
While a billion other dealers are slipping past our guards
All this time we're hoping and praying we all might learn
While a billion other teachers are teaching them how to burn
Dream of a peaceable kingdom
Dream of a time without war
The ones we wish would hear us
Have heard it all before
A wave toward the clearing sky
A wave toward the clearing sky
The hermit against the lovers
Or the devil against the fool
Swords against the kingdom
The wheel against the rules
All this time we're burning like bonfires in the dark
A billion other blazes are shooting off their sparks
Every spark a drifting ember of desire
To fall upon the earth and spark another fire
A homeward angel on the fly
A wave toward the clearing sky
