FT. LAUDERDALE -- Officials have siezed a cargo ship just off Port Evergaldes following a tip that the vessel might be carrying explosives. Sources tell us that they believe a container aboard the Maersk Marea is carrying some sort of explosive material. Agencies including; Customs, the FBI, the Coast Guard and members of the Terrorism Taskforce are on the case. They have boarded the Maersk Marea and are using special equipment to inspect cargo. Stay tuned to WSVN Channel 7 for more on this developing story. http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/S7064/

not being unloaded.."are using special equipment to inspect cargo" and will take sometime because of the size of the cargo vessel...are only acting on a tip which could be accurate or false, but at least there is action!

I always wonder in a situation like this if it is a terrorist sending in a bad tip, while the actual "explosive" cargo is actually stashed on another ship.

Florida does seem to get more than it's share of the action.

"You CANNOT unload the vessel at sea! A container ship has no means to lift the boxes off the deck and out of the cells. Shoreside cranes must be used. If there were explosives onboard, they could be in a box at the very bottom of a cell containing six or eight boxes. The only way to unload it is to bring it into port where the gantry cranes are located. "

Ugh...

People and their facts!

It just takes away from the whole shallow, melodramatic Loserdopian atmosphere that grips FR every Friday and leads through the weekend.

Since Germany doesn't want us to attack Iraq and think we are overreacting war mongers why don't we send it back and let them unload it.

According to your title the ship HAS explosives. Yet when one reads your follow up statement underneath, is says 'may' have exlosives?

What's up with the misleading title?
