You going meet our Stranger in the Night

LOL, good one! We could start a list of after dark songs for Saddam. How about "After Midnight"?

The Presient said "Colin, you're right where I want you to be."

Good for both of them.

Cool. Not only did she raise a dynasty, but her sons will leave an actual LEGACY, not a fake one like Clinton pretends to have.

All those years ago, living in that little house in Midland, Barbara Bush was doing God's work with her children. God bless her!

I was wondering about something today.

I know that the Bushes are only the second father and son ever to hold the office. Has there ever been a time before when the sitting President had a brother who was a Governor at the same time?

Any of you history buffs know the answer?

Colin Powell delivered a great speech. George W. Bush did well when he asked Powell to be the Secretary of State. It takes a moderate like Powell to handle that tough job. The difference between Powell and most moderates, He has a backbone

The only thing I can come close to is when President Kennedy's brother Ted was eeted to Senator from Masachusetts. Robert, his other brother, was the Attorney General.

OMG that is too funny! You should have had your picture taken with her. :)

Oh wish I had thought of that, we have a camera there too! Darn it! The lady would have done it too, she was a great sport, and said she loves Mama Bush!

I just caught the tail end of the speech but he certainly was not soft on Iraq. Spoke about his role as secretary of state and he has to maintain a delicate balance...Hopefully the transcript will be up shortly.

Perhaps I'm just being ornery, but this quote bugs me a little. We fight for liberty more so than peace. And we fight on, as will our children and grandchildren. The struggle will not end.

There was a good piece of Paul Johnson's last night, The Ostrich Position: European anti-Americanism reflects a deeper malaise. , in which he makes the point that Europe has chosen security over liberty, and now:

Perhaps Johnson was speaking more of economic security than political freedom, but the two are entwined.

We fight not for peace. Rather peace is a momentary reward for a victory in the struggle for freedom.

Like the rest of you, the pix of the president hugging his 'little' brother touches my heart. Despite their respective worries/responsibilities, GWB and JB know that they can lean on each other and the rest of their wonderful family (did you notice that sister Dorothy was in Florida today with Noelle?!).

WOW! I never realized the Jeb was THAT much taller than Dubya! But our Dubya doesn't feel the need to stand on a stepstool next to him, does he? Heh, Heh!

I haven't been on much the past few days...we're having a family crisis and I am asking for prayers...my father-in-law (Howard) has been hospitalized in a very nasty Psych. ward, he has Parkinson's Disease and took a sudden violent turn towards my mother-in-law, and it's a very bad situation...everyone wants to put him "away", but I just don't know if this is the right decision...the medication he has been taking can cause all kinds of mental problems and delusions...so...for those who are so inclined...please keep my husband (Clayton) and his family in your prayers...we need guidance to make the right decisions and peace of mind...also protection for my F-I-L who has already fallen and hurt himself in this hospital
