After nearly a year of running for the Senate and 50 minutes of debate where he painted himself as a Democrat Jesse Helms, Erskine Bowles has admitted that he worked 5 years for the Clinton Administration.
Did you Freepers know that Erskine takes all of the credit for the Balanced Budget in '95?

Crabtree has always seemed to have a slight liberal slantShortly after he took over the job he showed his liberal a$$ on a Sunday Am FYI type show. I've not watched WRAL News since. Simply can't stand Crabtree.( I really miss Greg's weather though)

and I thought you didn't know how to street fight... Don't forget hubby Bob.
Viagra Bob knows how to twist the knife, just not often enough. Of course, compared to Cheerleader Trent, Majority Leader Dole looks like Vin Diesel.

I really miss Greg's weather though Don't watch much local news anymore, but do like Greg. We always hit the polls at the same time on election day.
Couldn't tell you what line he gets in though.

North Carolina Elizabeth Dole, former U.S. Transportation Secretary under Ronald Reagan and CEO of the American Red Crossrunning against Erskine Bowles, former Clinton chief. I had this race in my first post on close Senate races that needed support because I predicted what is happening now. It has drawn close. Elizabeth is not a street fighter, and Bowles is vicious. This is Strom Thurmond old seat so we don't want to lose it despite Liddy's history on the Second Amendment not being as staunch as we would like.
Latest poll: Dole 49% Bowles 45% Conducted 10/10 by Survey USA MOE 4%Link to www.elizabethdole.org

I ran into Crabtree on Topsail Island after Hurricane
Fran washed my house away. We had just got to go back on the
island and he came along with his crew, asked me if I would
talk to him. I told him not unless he knew where my house was.

I think I'll leave your post nailed up. That about gets it.
Liddy Dole was brought up to be an active society type, and she isn't Hillary's reincarnation of Agrippina the Elder and Eva Peron. She may be proud and uppity, but not proud enough to serve as High Priestess to the Antichrist.

There is a John Sall at SAS who gave to Gore/Price/Etheridge and others in large amounts. Sounds like they are equal opportunity givers without a company ideology. I can live with that. Mr. Inside/Mr. Outside? Give to both, and if Bowles wins, Sall shows up to collect instead? Hmmmm. Sounds like a distinct possibility.
Either way, SAS gets in, and Citizens for Good Government get to talk to a junior staffer who tells them how busy the Senator is......clinking scotch glasses with the guy from SAS.
We need to do something about corporate citizenship, standing in law, ..... and the Lobby. I'm tired of this. Tired of eating lobbyists' elbows on the issues. Millions of people are out of work who committed the sin of hitting age 45, and now their employers are looking at the contribution schedule on their pension plans dictated by the big uptick at age 50 under ERISA -- because the Lobby got into the bill in 1973 and marked it up in the middle of the night. Now we're stuck with a body rain of 45-to-55-year-old employees, and employers won't touch over-55's with a stick. Because of a bill marked up by the Lobby.
Bowels or Liddy say anything about that ?

Ahem, that's Jesse's seat till the new Senator is sworn in. Lindsey Graham (R) SC, former house impeachment manager, is running for Strom's seat in the other Carolina.

Correct! My bad.
To: patriciaruth
That's ok, around here Jesse and Strom are known as the 'Tobacco Twins'.
Just remember that Jesse at 82 is called 'Junior' by Strom and you'll do fine.

Irky Bowelie looks like a sissy boy cheer leader alright. I have a good laugh at those ads where he says he'll fight for us. Even on life support I believe I could do a better job of fighting for myself. The toughest fight he looks like he has ever been is trying to crack an egg shell and breaking the yolk.

Going by his bio on the web site, this guy is smart and lucky. He married very well, too, financially speaking.
There's one issue I'm surprised hasn't come up. While he was an investment banker (with a big assist from his wife's bottomless purse), he joined several elite country clubs, mostly on the East Coast. Nothing wrong with that, as far as I'm concerned. I believe he remained a member of them while working for Clinton. It was only after he decided to run for office that he suddenly "discovered" that these clubs didn't have many minority members, and that maybe he should drop out of them. Hypocrite.

If she doesn't give Helms's conservative voters a reason to come out for her, they'll stay home and drink beerLOL. I don't drink beer
To: lentulusgracchus
If she doesn't give Helms's conservative voters a reason to come out for her, they'll stay home and drink beer, and she'll lose. I hope you haven't bought into the lamestream media stereotype of Helm's voters being redneck, hillbilly, snake handling, moonshine/beer swilling, racists and homophobes.

Mr. Goodnight runs one of the best companies on the planet and SAS is regularly voted the best company in America to work for. It would be difficult to impossible to bad mouth him and get away with it. He is loved by his employees.
To: TC Rider
I hope you haven't bought into the lamestream media stereotype No, but I do believe the Media hate Helms and think he is a racist, and all his voters are racists too, and wish fervently that more Yankees with PhDs from Cornell would move down to Tarheel and help the blacks and university liberals make the conservatives move up into the hills and hollers and quit voting, never to be heard from again.
What I've picked up is that liberal Media truly hate some states, and the Carolinas are on that list. South Carolina will never get off the hate-list, not even if they close the Citadel and burn Charleston to the ground. The Yankees might relent on Tarheel, though, if it could....."evolve"..... to put the Helms voters permanently in a corner with nowhere to go.
