***BYRD: A CRAZY OLD FOOL DEMOCRAT WHO SUGGESTS THE BEHEADING THE PRESIDENT***
Stardate: 0210.10

Posted on 10/10/2002 3:54:01 PM PDT by The Wizard

It's hard to believe I just heard what I did coming from an elected democrat, but this one's time has come and gone....

Wiping drool from his mouth, Democrat Senator Byrd raved on laughing about GWB being the Commander and Chief, and saying..."you know where that came from, Comander and Chief?...from Charles the first....you know what happened to him, he was beheaded"

News Flash to the democrats: get this idiot off the floor or you will loose all power and credibility.....

Byrd's remarks were an insult to the nation, and a demonstration that his Klan roots run deep....

Byrd is a glaring example of why we need term limits. The idea that the electorate will terminate their represenative when he is no longer fit for office, for whatever reason, has proven to a liability for this country.

Sad day indeed when we must await the grim reaper to remove professional politicians from office, because the electorate is not capable of doing what is best for the country.

Are you serious? I'm sure the Secret Service will show up on his doorstep soon.

Not if he said it on the floor of the Senate.

U.S. Constitution Art II, sec 6 : ... "for any Speech or Debate in either House; they shall not be questioned in any other place".

West Virgina is an illegitimate state anyway. The Constitution says, in Art. IV sec. 3, that (a) new state(s) shall not be formed out of existing states without the permission of the Legislature of that state. The Virgina legislature gave no such permission. It could of course be argued that Virgina wasn't a state at the time, but then the North was fighting a war of conquest, not putting down an insurrection. If was OK for W. Va. to seceed from Virgina, why not Virgina from the United States? Politicians are not known for consistancy in Constitutional interpretation.

The smartest woman in America just said Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1991. I believe they invaded in 1990 and EVACUATED in 1991.

"you know where that came from, Comander and Chief

The great Constitutional scholar and sage of the Senate should read the Constititution that he swore to uphold and defend.

It's "Commander IN Chief". Art. II, sec. 2 "The President shall be Commander in Chief ..."

Yeah, I know exactly where that came from.

Article II Section 2. The president shall be commander in chief of the army and navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several States, when called into the actual service of the United States...

Yep, the founders had too much faith in the Congress. In their day, honor was still a living virtue and a man's word was his bond. Also in their day, travel was difficult and most Congressmen and Senators left their families back home. There was no way they could foresee powered flight and its effects. Lastly, all members in that time made their living either off the land or off their businesses, not off their Congressional income. So the founders thought it would be a rare man who would want to serve in Congress for more than a few terms. Even their genius did not foresee a day when term limits would be necessary to prevent Representatives and Senators from becoming the professional type of politician that the founders abhorred. Unfortunately, since a term limits amendment to the Constitution would have to go through Congress, we will never see term limits for Congressional offices.
