I'm a little concerned....

Posted on 10/10/2002 12:40:59 PM PDT by JimThayner

umm...I'm a little concerned about some stuff on this website. why do we call democrats 'rats? they call us "repugnants" I think we're above that kind of childish namecalling. I think we're coming down a little too hard on the liberals too. I'm an Independent, and I try to find the truth. well, the TRUTH is that 90% of the time, conservatives are correct. why do i voice opposition? Aren't we above all this stuff that the democrats do? I think we need to prove to America that WE are controlled, clear thinking, intelligent, and sophistacted people. NOT people who go and cheer and jeer at the other side. my suggestion is this: Instead of going out to cheer and geer at the democrats, we should go out and do community service projects, hand out fliers, and do stuff to help the community. THAT is what will separate us from the democrats. WE spend our time living what we chant about, the democrats spend their time chanting all the time. Talkting instead of DOING. I think we need to go beyond a "political party." I DO believe that the liberals will destroy our country if not stopped. However, i don't want us to destroy it in the process of trying to stop them. Lets show them up: do work for others, and such. Organize relief for disaster victims. (headlines: FreeRepublic first on site rendering aid to distaster victims, liberals shocked at being shown how much jerks liberals are" Spend less time and money on trying to talk the liberals to death with reason (obviously that won't work). Spend time DOING. My father knew California State Assemlyman Brian (B.T.) Collins since they were in Boy Scouts together. Look up BT Collins. he was a POPULAR Republican in CALIFORNIA! He spent his time helping other people, and used the phrase "is the world any better because you were in it?" I would like to offer my own version: "Is america better off because of the Republican Party's majority?" What do you all think about this? BTW, don't worry, I'm not a liberal. jim

Yeah, I found Heinlein in middle school. "Stranger In A Strange Land" has all kinds of levels. If you haven't read it in a couple of years, go back and reread it. You'll see it totally differently as an adult than you did as a teen.

I know some moderate liberals who are decent folks and I would not consider them RATs, regardless of party affiliation. When I think of RATs, I think national party politics--where your list was a good start.

As far as for the regular people--I think they really have no idea what/who they are supporting. Just think how little you would know if the lamestream was all you had for news. :^(

Don't write off the Twins, Mark. They have better pitching and defense than Anaheim. The Twins need to shuffle their lineup, their leadoff hitter is swinging for the home run and they're employing too conservative a base running scheme. They don't have a big crusher (Anaheim has four), they need to make their hits count and put pressure on the defense and pitcher by running and scrounging.

I am always careful not to call Democrats RATS or Rats, as so many here do.

I always use an apostrophe to indicate that it is a contraction: 'Rats.

It's just a diminuative, a way to save a little typing. Just like Republican becomes "Pubbie" or Lying-Scum-Traitor-Impeached-Bent-Pervert- Shameless-Former-President becomes "Bubba".

Nothing sinister here.

I agree with you, DoughtyOne. The problem is Jim, the serioousness of the damage done to our country and our constitution by the democrats deserves and I believe explains the responses and remarks on FR.

Some of us truly believe they are traitors to our country and we happen to be angry and disgusted by them. There will be no "kissy facing" the dems/libs from me.

still snippy about it!

Thanks Arne. I am, however, a bigger hockey fan, so I watched a hockey double header last night, and I will watch another hockey double header tonight. I hope there ain't no rats on my favorite hockey team.

Just this morning I was thinking...

People who say "trust me", are the ones you got to run away from.

Pretty much the same with the ol' "can't we just all get along?" gang...

Go ahead and be a little concerned.
The rats deserve anything they get. Sorry.

Who called you a liberal?

If you came to FR to find moderates, you are surely at the wrong place.

Why is it ALWAYS up to us to be civil?

You'll find alot more reasoned and intelligent debate between the members of this board than any place else. To say that we are mired in "group think" is silly. Is it out of the realm of possiblities that bunch of like minded people would come together, or are we just a buch of "mind numb robots?"

Even Jesus hates moderates:

So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
Revelation 3:16

BTW, welcome to FR. We are just joking around with you--at least most are. :)
