In Memory of "ultimate", who passed away 10/8/02

Many of you oldtimers will remember the freeper Ultimate who was a frequent participant on Free Republic for two years, and on The Neverending Story thread last year. She was a sweet lady with a profound faith in God and love for everyone. She began experiencing health problems a year ago, and despite two operations the doctors were unable to save her. I received an e-mail from one of her friends letting me know that she passed away last night. I ask that you remember her and her family in your prayers.

Hi!! I want to tell you all how happy I am to be here and thank those from this thread who prayed for me during the recent lung cancer stuff that came up. I want to tell you some of the effects your prayers had: I was downright jovial before the surgery, I finally stopped smoking for the first time in 46 years (without killing anyone during withdrawal!), the result of the surgery was better than I deserved. There is no evidence of spread. It was a mysterious set of "Godcumstances" that brought about the discovery of this cancer while still surgically fixable (Dr's said the tumor size started out at 4 cm and by the time of the surgery it was officially 2.2 cm).

I am so grateful to God and for His mercy to me and to everyone on this planet and the Angels and the Saints who prayed for me. I wouldn't want to have gone through this without the awesome power of God.

Too bad to see a kindly soul go.

But I'll give parents a tip.
When I was six years old, my father lifted me out of my bed to deposit me
with our neighbors while he and Ma went to the hospital for my brother's entry into the world.

My dad smoked at the time (quit a few years later and has been TOO healthy ever since)...
BUT he accidentally burned me pretty good on the arm while carrying in the dark to the
neighbor's house...the cigarette somehow got good contact with my arm in the commotion.

Let me say that the accidental "aversive therapy" worked.
I never smoked even one cigarette.
I couldn't get the sting of that hot cigarette on my arm out of my head!
