[history]
When Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe pulled up to the Brookings Institution in his Cadillac Escalade SUV to hear Al Gore's speech on the economy last week, observers noticed that his vehicle's "DNC" vanity plate had been traded for a regular tag.

Given their total disregard for the law, I don't find this suprising.

When a member of the D.C. "Freepers" or American University College Republicans (both groups were protesting Mr. Gore's policies outside Brookings) asked Mr. McAuliffe what had happened to the "DNC" tag, the chairman reportedly replied that he "had it changed because his drivers were getting too many speeding tickets," one ear-witness tells Inside the Beltway.Do you think McAuliffe told the truth about the plate? In NY, if you get too many moving violations and you have vanity plates, they take them away from you, not the other way around.....

Thanks Fred. I take the WT and some days I don't even get to (or take the time to) read it. It's out there on the driveway right now. Everything out of that very fine paper seems to get posted on FR anyway.
It was great theater watching McCauliff step out of the back of his limo, waving at the Students and FReepers like some VIP, only to have his handshake rejected by everyone as he tried to make lite of Kristinn's questions. What a sleezebag!
