Obtaining a concealed carry permit was very political in Rudy Giuliani's New York City.

Kerik told Newsday that he carries a gun because "every retired cop has the right ... I've always had one." It'd sure be nice if every citizen had that "right." But someone would have to put that in the Constitution for that to happen, wouldn't they? It'd fit real nice in that blank space between the First and Third Amendments.

This is really good news. Now we have the names of all the gang members in the Bronx and Brooklyn, all the Russian mobsters, and all the maifioso who carry guns. That means, if there is ever a shooting in NYC, we know exactly where to begin our invistigation. Sort of a dirty trick though, when these bad guys applied for their right to carry licenses, they did so in the belief that the information would not be made public or potentially used against them. Now, they wind up on a "usual suspects" list.

So long as Americans can be convinced that they need to apply for permits to exercise rights, they can expect to be denied their rights.Boonie Rat

It'd sure be nice if every citizen had that "right." Every citizen does have that right.
What many of them lack, unfortunately, is the freedom to exercise that right.

Maybe the reason applications are down, is most people know it is a waste of time since they do not have the last name of De Niro, Rockerfeller or Trump and know that the city of New York does not consider their life, family or property worth protecting.

I(like millions of others)really love Rudolph Giuliani but that doesn't mean that I don't have some problems with him!Sen.Di Fi is another strong advocate for so-called gun-control but she(like other"LiboCrites")has concealed/carry!!Apparently,they need to defend themselves more than we do!!The ONLY WAY that WE(The People)can protect ourselves from"The Gun-Grabbers"et,al is to find out about these"liboCrites"and vote their sorry A**E*S out of office!!!

"Gun Control" is a deliberate misnomer.
It is actually "Gun Prohibition for the Law-Abiding."

20,018 residence permits out of a city of like 9 million.
Oh and btw, the word on the street is crime is going back up. Not so much in the tourist zones but in the out of the way places.

Just one more reason not to care about, idolize, or wish to visit "glamorous" NYC, where your right to defend yourself is subject to how much ass you kiss.

"What many of them lack, unfortunately, is the freedom to exercise that right."Nope, they have the freedom. It's guaranteed in the US Constitution. What they lack is the COURAGE to tell the state to go to hell.
