Thanks for the ping Wphile.

WOW - Well, this author is preaching to the choir here, but even so... I think she nailed it. Our W doesn't take the bait. He is SO patient - it drives me crazy sometimes. But it serves him (and our country) very, very well.

The big reason (and this really drives the Rats crazy) is that he is incredibly smart. They can't stand it that he is so smart. I LOVE IT.

Great piece. Let's hope Emery's optimism proves just as accurate 32 days from now.

MJ this was a great read and thanks for the ping. I'm glad to be alive to see a man of character and integrity leading this country.

One of the funniest lines of killing them with kindness:

Bush has a history of driving people who are sure they're much smarter than he is to incredibly silly and self-immolating acts. In the Texas governor's race in 1994, he was the lightweight against the incumbent, Ann Richards, who felt herself demeaned by having to run against him. Making her disdain clear, she addressed him as "shrub" and as "Junior." He addressed her as "Governor Richards." She called him "clueless." He called her "Governor Richards." She called him "the anemic link at the tail end of the gilded Bush dynasty." He said he found her "interesting" as a study in character. At last, she blew up, and called him "some jerk" at a rally. He won by 6 points.

There is visceral hatred on the Left for conservatives out there. Fortunately the more its expressed the more it makes them look like they're on the fringe and a bunch of goofy oddballs. Let's hope they keep it up.

What really gets me laughing about the democRATS is when ever they think they have some dirt to throw in GWB's eyes. they are always seem to be so anxious to jump to their feet and demand GWB to open that closet door. Over and over they demand that we see into this dark closet as they claim they have discovered the magical closet door that will bring down King George. But once they open it... All they find is their own skeletons for all the world to see.

"Al Gore left his stool and walked slowly, stiffly, toward his opponent, arms at his sides, palms pointed behind him, looking oddly like [a] robot. . . . Bush glanced over his shoulder, took a beat--and nodded once, as if to say: Hi there--be with you in a moment. The audience laughed, and Al Gore was finished for the night."

I watched the debates in England and I remember being struck at the bizarreness of what Gore did that night (the walking over to Bush thing). I was literally like "what is this idiot thinking?" At the moment, my gut reaction was that Gore was going to push Dubya or something, and I couldn't get over that, what did he want to do with that gesture? Did he expect Dubya to flinch or back away? The only thing that could've happened is the thing that did- he wound up looking like a total moron. Did his handlers tell him to do that or was he improvising?

It was an attempt at schoolyard intimidation, and it failed miserably. I was totally stunned when it happened.

That had to be an AlGore original. I don't think the DemocRat politcal gurus are that stupid.

SamAdams: "There are people out there that do not like President Bush

Oyez: "Because he stands between them and rank socialism"

And because he means what he says and says what he means; you know how that must rankle little Tommy FooFoo and all the Rats who stood by the Klintons.....

Thanks for the ping, pokey; great article!

Al Gore thought he was smarter than Bush, and in the debates planned to take out this pretender. A couple of points,
1 in order to be a good/great leader you don't have to be the smartest person in the room, you just need to have really smart people on your side. Something President Bush understood when he put his team together.
2 I KNOW President Bushs heart is in the right place, even when he make a (IMO) a mistake I believe it's not because he's petty of selfserving, unlike a certain other(clinton) administration I could name. Bump and bookmarked.

"It was an attempt at schoolyard intimidation"

That is exactly what he was trying to do, and Dubya just gave him a glance as if to say "Yeah Right!" Al Gore would rather walk into a Lions cage with a Pork Chop suit on, than to get up in George W. Bush's face. Dubya would beat him like a second hand Banjo

That tells you so much about both men. Gore was trying to become the President- the pinnacle of power in the known universe and one of his cathodes fizzed out in a pressure moment and he does something totally idiotic, bizarre and downright rude. Bush on the other hand played it right off and got the audience to laugh at his android opponent. That's grace under pressure. The nation was given a graphic example right there, live on national television- a comparison of the two candidates and their character.

Gore skewered himself with that one. Nobody has ever come up with the "official" reason why he did that? Did Gore ever say why?

That wasn't where I thought you were going with the closet analogy. But I guess not many people have heard of Fibber McGee and Molly.

A keeper for sure:

That time has now come, these factors are present, and that liberal can scarcely believe his bad luck. There are two possible explanations: Either he has overestimated the extent to which his worldview is shared by the public, or he has underestimated George Bush. Neither idea is appealing. What kind of a populist are you if the people aren't with you? What kind of an intellectual are you if you aren't smarter than Bush? How can people so smart, and whose views are so popular, be beaten so often by someone so clueless? The idea that George Bush is a gifted politician whose views are quite mainstream would make their world crumble. On the other hand, if they are so often trounced by an out-of-touch moron, then what does it say about them?
