WASHINGTON - Former vice president Al Gore is reasserting himself as a Democratic leader, with speeches challenging the Bush administration on Iraq and the economy and a campaign-style swing that includes stops in Massachusetts today to campaign with Democratic gubernatorial nominee Shannon O'Brien.

"Former backers keep their distance"This chump's got the stink on him.

The former vice president said he gained weight and could take the ring off but could not get it back on...this has got to be one of the stupidest remarks ever. I wore a ring for over 20 years because I gained weight. If it doesn't go one way it doesn't go both ways.

Tipper Gore rises to blow him a kiss and say that she and former Vice President Al Gore are still married prior to his economic policy speech at the Brookings Institution in Washington Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002. The former vice president said he gained weight and could take the ring off but could not get it back on when Mrs. Gore got up from the audience. (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer)
That doesn't look like a kiss blowing jesture to me.

You stoopid putz! - I paid almost 5 dollars for that ring - and now you've lost it!

"...despite the fact that Gore swept the Democratic primaries and won the popular vote in 2000..." The fundamental (and decisive) issue of the Electoral College aside, there is no evidence that -when correction for fraud is made nationwide- that algore actually accomplished this.
The 2000 election was intended, from the beginning, to be stolen by the democrats. By God's grace they simply marginally miscalculated the degree of manipulation required to secure a 'win' without arousing too much suspicion of irregularity.
The outright lie that algore 'won the popular vote' is all they have now, and they chant it like a mantra.

"Gore still has significant advantages: His name recognition is high nationwide and he retains a fund-raising base. Unconstrained by office, he will not need to cast politically dangerous votes on subjects such as Iraq." (Boston Globe)
Fortunately for us, Algore suffers from the Lani Guinier Syndrome - a body of recent extremist writings he can't run away from, starting with his ecofascist book Earth In The Balance, written only a decade ago while he was in the Senate. That's his "voting record."
He also suffers from things that will anger key Democrap constituencies as word of them gets known - like his heavy pre-Klintons involvement with a homophobic "church."
Algore in his own words, 1992-2000 - including Earth In The Balance!

Classic. Gore gives what he thinks is a serious speech on economic policy, and the main question is "Hey fat boy, where's your wedding ring?"
Meanwhile, mindful of the wacko deep-throat job AlBorg gave her at the convention, Tipper blows him what looks like either a kiss or a "Yo mama", but from a safe distance.

I hadn't seen this angle of the room before. Not exactly a huge crowd, is it? Soon, they will have to start bussing attendees in.

If Gore makes a speech, and nobody gives a poop, does a tree fall flat on it's face?

The fundamental (and decisive) issue of the Electoral College aside This was just another example of how the law and the Constitution always seem to be in the way of Democrat power acquisition.
My socialist sister-in-law actually sneered when I mentioned that the Electoral College was specifically in the Constitution. It was as if it shouldn't matter, the outcome "wasn't right" when the rules were followed.

Unless he's bribed with a plum position, he's a future Green Party candidate for President. Just my opinion.

I suppose this phil bredesen is a weasel if he is actually a supporter of Clintonism and the other socialists and is trying to distance himself from them in the eyes of the voting public.
He might not be such a weasel, though, if he actually despises them and is trying to make that evident.
I guess the big test of "weaselness" is his honesty.

Gore's speech on Iraq was a success, some say. The aliens are coming this Thanksgiving to take us all to heaven in a spaceship, some say.
''The entire party has woken up since he talked,'' she said. ''They started a stampede.
Bwahaahaahaahaaahaaa! I can't describe the image this evokes.

"...My socialist sister-in-law actually sneered when I mentioned that the Electoral College was specifically in the Constitution. It was as if it shouldn't matter, the outcome "wasn't right" when the rules were followed..." No peace can ever be made with these people.
Only absolute physical and political separation from them can save us from a terrible alternative.

weasel word phil, keeps saying he is against a state income tax, BUT we have on record numerous quotes about him supporting one. He will NOT sign the NO IT pledge, as Van Hilleary has, will NOT promise NO IT in second term. weasel word phil is responsible for the worst stadium deal in history..Oiler..now Titans. Has socked it to Nashville taxserfs in the form of 3 property tax hikes to pay for his social experiments. The Nashville FOP voted 71% against supporting him. Memphis FOP voted against supporting him.

His near miss is not the only reason they are backing off from him. His attempted coup for over a month after losing the election was an embarrassment to the party, as are his stupid speeches made in the past few weeks.
Notice, if you will, the hard ball questions his adoring press ask him however. " How come you aren't wearing your wedding ring Al?" Yes, that is what Americans want to know during his way too early political campaign!
