Preventing rape is not funny. At least it shouldn't be. Somebody should have mentioned that to the audience before the recent first televised gubernatorial debate at Penn State. Candidates were asked what they would do to encourage rape victims to report the crime to authorities. One of the four gave an answer few were expecting. The audience and the other three thought he was joking.

Woman Shoots Intruder

Two terrified women felt they had run out of options. The women huddled in a closet clutching a handgun while intruders roamed through their Detroit flat.

The old saying You can't rape a .38 as a lot of truth in it.Every woman whould have the chance to decide for herself weather she wants to be armed or not. The idea of victim complaince is long dead.

Universities and colleges usually want to improve security...

Not as much as they want to avoid responsibility!

The writer is correct in the statement that predators whether two legged or four stalk/attack the weakest target that presents itself . The fact that the PC goatropers are appalled at the idea of a woman fighting back against an attacker shows just how utterly ethically & morally corrupt they truly are .

The sad fact of life is that there are people in this world who think the sound of a woman sobbing after being raped & brutalized is as pleasent a sound as a peice by Chopin or Mozart & all the ideas of "How we need to understand the bad guy " won't stop a single one of them as they know that the folks that think that way are completely clueless .

The columns author is correct & the education of young men & women needs to start way before freshman orientation it must start in the cradle by instilling a sense of respect for themselves/others, a sense of dignity, a sense of honor that will not allow them to engage in such dishonorable activities or stand by casually if they take place in their precense. Until we as a people start to do this things the situation will improve very little if at all.

Any moron who wants to try and rob or rape this gal, best be forewarned, I have NO qualms about not only pointing my pistol at them, but holding steady and FIRING it. When it's between my life and some evil piece of crap threatening it, guess what's going to come first with me?

Only one problem with the idea of arming coeds. Most aren't 21 and can't own a handgun. Another law that needs repealing.

...."It's obvious that a handgun is a girl's best friend." After the laughter subsided.....

The fact that people laughed at the idea of defending one's self with a gun shows just how successful liberals have been at changing the mindset of the average person over the last 3 or 4 decades. When I was young a long time ago, the normal, natural response to a lethal threat by the average American was to aquire a weapon, preferably a firearm, to defend him or her self against the impending danger. Today the natural, normal response by the average American is to anxiously wring his/her hands and hope the police arrive in time to save their lives. Unfortunately the police usually don't make it in time. Not necessarily their fault, they just can't be everywhere all the time. Besides that, their primary job is to find and arrest the criminal after the crime is done, not to provide around the clock personal protection to all citizens.

It would be interesting to know how many innocent people have died at the hands of vicious murderers over the last few decades simply because liberals have succeeded in convincing people of the nonsensical notion that defending one's life, or the lives of loved ones, with deadly force is somehow unethical and immoral. I would guess they number in the tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands. It never ceases to amaze me that the people most vulnerable to criminal attack are usually the very ones who take a smug pride in the fact that they don't possess any means of self defense. Those people consider their aversion to guns to be an indication of their superior intellect, but even the lowest orders of insect life are smarter than that.

Second Amendment Sisters has already opened a chapter at Mt Holyoke College in Boston, and hopes to open many more college chapters around the country before long. We need women student volunteers to help us with this effort. Are there any freeper students willing to volunteer?

Green Party candidate Michael Morrill said it's insane to advise a woman to combat violence with violence

Yeah, a rapist might get hurt, or even worse killed. I wonder what this pussy would do if someone was trying to rape him.

Yup. It wasn't too long ago in the grand scheme of things, after all, when a "pocket pistol" was simply a standard part of a gentleman's wardrobe, like a pocket watch. How times have changed.

I wonder how many women who have been raped did not wish they had a gun at the time?

Gun control hurts the most vulnerable.

Depending on where you live, times haven't really changed all that much.
Not all of the U.S. subscribes to East Coast mores.

Immediately followed by a really large dog. And anybody can own a dog.
