ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- John Walker Lindh told military and FBI questioners he believed the September 11 attacks were the first of three waves of terrorist strikes against the United States, according to secret documents obtained by CNN.

Walker Lindh, the first American taken prisoner in Afghanistan as a Taliban fighter -- and scheduled to be sentenced Friday -- also said he turned down an offer to take part in suicide attacks against the United States, and that he believed as many as 50 operatives had been sent on missions against the United States and Israel.

The FBI's interrogation report says Walker Lindh related that after September 11, one of his former al Qaeda training-camp instructors said "that UBL (Osama bin Laden) said this was the first attack. ... The group speculated that the second attack would involve attacking nuclear facilities, oil/gas pipe lines, or some kind of biological attack."
Apparently we stopped them cold, butt cold.

Now, on to liberate the peoples of Iraq.

Walker Lindh also told the FBI that the head of all al Qaeda's training camps personally asked him if he would take part in missions against the United States and Israel.

He said he declined, and he also turned down a chance to swear allegiance to al Qaeda. Instead, says the report, "He swore allegiance to Jihad."

Yeah, right. This one American in the midst of all these Islamofascist nutjobs tells them flat-out, "Nope, won't attack America, won't swear allegiance to you" and they just let him live and fight with them. Yeah, sure.

I call bull-spatter!

Hey, whatever he said let him go on breathing. I don't believe a word of it either.

But if a Marin County yuppie kid can get that far, why the hell couldn't a CIA agent?

Or else this is the FBI taking credit for preventing what would never have happened anyway.

...one of his former instructors said that "this was the first attack"...

Not exactly a policy statement from the White House.

It may be patriotic to believe the FBI, but is it good sense? Their track record with the truth isn't all that great.

That's right -- so why is this somehow less important than Iraq?

Why was defeating Japan somehow less important than defeating Germany?

That point can't be made enough.

The CIA's inability to plant people in that organization is ridiculous.

One CIA guy was on TV last October saying "they're impossible to infiltrate, they all know each other and each other's families, you need to be introduced by an insider" etc.

And this lameass from the Left Coast waltzes in and gets trained as a fighter. Maybe they would never have let him advance through the ranks, but he was in a position to observe and report some pretty useful stuff.

Apparently we stopped them cold, butt cold.

A few months after 9-11, an article was posted here from the U.K. (Times? Telegraph?)
in which it was reported that construction was on-going at Osama's mansion/convention center
in Kandahar...at the time of 9-11 attacks.
My amateur guess is that Osama (and Mullah Omar) trusted the media reports that
we had a moron for a President that no one would follow.

They were wrong.

But of course this doesn't mean this is over...we just have had a successful first
counter-attack.
If not onto Baghdad...at least here's to the end of Sadaam.

You prefer police chiefs who support seizing private property without due process?
Civil asset forfeiture laws are laws--they may be unfair or unjust laws, but they are laws, duly enacted by duly elected legislators. If you do not like them, then be off with you to the voting booth.

Even before he left al Farooq, Walker Lindh said one of his instructors told him that bin Laden "sent 50 people to carry out 20 ... suicide operations" and that the group believed the attacks were aimed at the United States and Israel.

You mean to tell me that this Mother F#cker KNEW about these attacks in advance, and WE KNEW that he knew and all he got was TWENTY F#CKING YEARS?????

Well...In 20 years, I'll be pretty close to the end of my run...I just might JIHAD this little Pr#ck MYSELF!!!

I take it you were impressed with the part where Osama...
"...made small talk and thanked them all for taking part in the jihad."

Certainly my favorite part.
