ENDWELL -- A doctor living in Endwell could succeed Saddam Hussein as leader of Iraq.

But if he had his druthers, Dr. Hatem Mukhlis said, he'd just as soon stay here.

Mukhlis is a major figure in an Iraqi organization opposed to Saddam Hussein's regime. Saddam ordered Mukhlis' father killed.

He doesn't sound the devil to me. He sounds like a nightmare to Saddam and the rest of his Islamafascists in control of the Islamakazis in Iraq.

Very true, I just hope he does not change his thinking, If He does come to power and has the right goals in mind for his people.. Any one has to be better then Saddam,as long as he does not become one him self..

How about asking the Iraqis whom they would want to have for president once Saddam is gone? Or will others have to decide instead of them?

Did you read the article? The man is Iraqi, involved in the planning for the future of his country.

Wow - This guy could be the 'Hamid Karzi' of Iraq.
Who knows... Maybe even the 'George Washington' of Iraq.
Good things can start with just a few good men.

Either or that, a modern Iraqi 'Dr. Benjamin Rush'(first Surgeon General of US, and friend to several of Founding Fathers).

I know this man. He DOES understand freedom and capitalism and hard work, and has passed those values on to his children.

Thanks for your feedback.

It is hard to tell from an article about a man and his character. What I got from this article was what you just replied to me. Thanks!

Your reply, "I know this man. He DOES understand freedom and capitalism and hard work, and has passed those values on to his children."

Wouldn't you love to see tens of thousands people like this good man return to Iraq to turn it into a democracy?

Howdy, Neighbor (I live in Endicott, work on Watson Blvd).

It's a nice article, and it sounds as though the good doctor is exactly that - good. I'm afraid I chuckled a bit about his first name, though. "Hatem" sounds like Saddam's creedo to me.

Seriously, I'm shocked that this came from the Press-with-Some-Bull-in-it.

The pronunciation is not "hate em"; it is "ha team".
He is a very intelligent and thoughtful man. He seeks peace and democrocy for his country-not power for himself.

Cruise,

Thanks for the info - both pronunciation and this gentleman's temperament and goals. I always try to listen to how someone says his or her own name before I venture to publicly embarrass myself by mispronouncing.
