This is a federal issue and SCOTUS will apply the rule announced in Bush v. Gore:...This could be exactly what the Dems want a replay of the Bush/Gore SCOTUS drama in anticipation of upcoming SCOTUS Justice retirements.

what the f**k is happening to this country ...They're taking it over with little effort because their motto is 'the ends justify the means.'
The majority of the people in this country are too clueless to see it. 8 * (

OMG!!! Now she's saying why is the difference of a few days between 51 and now???? For the love of GOD! It's the LAW!!!!!! I'm going to have a heart attack.

Not only hostile, they keep asking why they should enforce the laws of NJ that they have sworn to uphold. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
To: Numbers Guy
Control of the Senate is very important. No, it is not of presidential importance. But I think it is a big enough issue that the USSC will hear the case on an emergency basis.

The New Jersey Supreme Court is taking phone calls nationally in order to "poll" on this issue. I called from the car and had a polite discussion with person who answered. Their Number is 609-292-4837. They probably won't make a decision today so calls are important. PLEASE CALL. I just called and had a lovely conversation with a lady who politely heard my comments. I asked her what the "trend" was on the calls and she told me that there are three people taking the calls and that, while she couldn't comment on the calls the others had received, she did say that her calls (33% ?) were decidely for "upholding the law" i.e. Torecelli loses.

"Just because a Democrat falters" he said!!

LOL, these justices say why can't we re-write laws. And that will be ANOTHER reason the SCOTUS will take this case!
To: Wphile
I hope the third-party types who see no problem letting a Democrat win keep this thread in mind.

Why didn't we send it the best, like Ben Ginsberg? Why do we send people to a knife fight with a water pistol?

The observation you made is quite profound.
The collorary to your comment in this case is as follows: We DON'T really give a damn about the NJ mess. After all, it is just an attempt to put a party's nominee on the ballot. The REAL story is the Republican effort to block a free and fair election. /presstitute spin

Tom Daschle was just campaigning for the Torch LAST WEEK!

If there are ANY decient Democrats in NJ, in clean conscience they should just sit this election out. Otherwise, they approve of crimminality, the very thing the voted against Toricelli for. They'd be crooks themselves, too.
Can anyone say "Florida voter?"
To: alnick
Well why the hell was he eligible to serve until his poll numbers took a dive? Exactly !! he MADE himself ineligible by quitting...but now they want a 'do-over' even tho' it's all their fault...I can't fully express my disgust with this hijacking of the law

How? Because they chose someone who was going to lose and the party didn't inform them of that fact back then? Well during the primary, the Rat bigshots all stood by The Torch cause it looked like he could blow the GOP candidate away in the fall. If the polls went in the other direction, no way, no how we would be having this hearing before the New Jersey Supreme Court today. Polls are not an issue here. The Senator withdrew and there is no "legal" way (that I can read) to place another candidate on the ballot.
I think the Repub attorney is holding his own.

I'll have a cardiac with you. This hearing is only a formality. You'd think the Court would at least go through the motions of appearing less biased.
